the end of artificial alliances
BY ENTON ABILEKA
Barely a handful of delegates would make it to the door of the PDS Assembly, while top leaders of its presidency were leaving. The unexplained situation of Berisha’s PD and his people after the defeat of 1997 has turned this party into a political and psychological mystery. Such is its relationship with those who left, such is its relationship with those who stayed, such is its relationship with the others.
Again, explanations and rhetoric. They had promised with great confidence a fresh start that would be interesting and clear, yet they were still talking about it. They built it as if it were going to help them. To shake things up, to awaken the satrap, all the noise about the PD’s launch was made within the walls of the headquarters. Until in the end they sounded the alarm to gather them after the February trap and the element in a defeat without a. It is precisely this crisis that has now led to the step taken at the end of the “Alliance for the state”.
That which is now included in the political co-government of the Assembly with the forces and allies. But this alliance not only has the governing coalition to maintain within the ranks of the organization, it also needs to understand relationships, establish rules, and resolve the great defeat. In times of parties that do not arise as a value of ideas, where governing moves through the doors of clientele and not those of citizens, relationships among groups and individuals are always temporary. For Berisha, the defeat of 1997 creates the chance to return to the party with the great loss and the long transition that has placed him under stress. For this he must find an organizational model, regain support, and resolve the tension among his people.
The increase in small parties and artificial coalitions has more than once made opposition unity a mechanism that works only during elections and falls apart the day after. Berisha seems to see his political journey in the Albanian regions as a symbol of return and consolidation. From Tetova, Prishtina all the way to Tropoja, he seeks to project a new map of his political influence and communicate with the electoral base beyond state borders.
