Nano: “Meta, prime minister of the PS even after 2001”

Support from the USA and European leftists is followed by sympathy from Austria’s right wing for the young Meta Nano: “Meta, prime minister of the PS even after 2001” The strong pact in Krujë t'Elezcharitit, delays in implementing the law, voting for the future and relations with civil society pages 2-3 Nano’s diplomacy and Meta’s determination At the meeting with the governing duo, the first to speak was Franc Vranitzky, leader of the Socialist International. Nano discussed with him the way and timing of the political implementation to be delivered by Monday before the memorandum. By linking the country’s political implementation with work, he made it clear to Vranitzky that by the end of June the unification of the left-wing forces is planned for 2001. More striking was Vranitzky’s statement, concerning the PS and minister Meta, who were invisible and underestimated in the Albanian and foreign press and media, and should have been sought out by Albanian and foreign personalities in academic and scientific circles. With a stronger political effect, assistance with the decision for youth was assigned by the Albanian prime minister with the support of the Austrian embassy in Tirana. They were informed about the complaints, the worsening crisis, and the possibility of relations with civil society. Austria and former chancellor Vranitzky gave the signal that, together with Albanian leaders, they had met representatives of the right and especially of the youth, creating one of the most significant bridges with the country’s foreign minister, Karl Blecha. He considered the relationship between the Albanian prime minister and the scene of cooperation more as a matter of respect for a disciplined state. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta is expected to remain head of government even after the 2001 elections. This is how Fatos Nano expressed himself, commenting on demands that the government and the party would be dominated by disappointment over this outcome. In this context, the argument did not end until the opposition had declared the government’s orientation. The only contest now considered possible is the phase of the resemblance between the government, with hope amid conflict between Kosovo, Yugoslavia and Greece. While it is expected that after June this political orientation will shift, it is quite clear that the direction of elections and governance does not seem likely to change. Nano said that the government would remain in place until 2001. Prime Minister Meta, who emerged as the leader of the new governing force, appears to enjoy strong support in Albanian public opinion and to have the backing of European partners in this period of transition.

The right-wing Schüssel receives the left-wing Meta

It is the first time that an Albanian socialist is received by right-wing leaders in power in Europe Yesterday, during the visit to Austria, Prime Minister Meta was received by Minister Karl Blecha and by the Austrian president. He took the opportunity to discuss the prospects for cooperation with the local government and with the right-wing representatives in power. During the three-way meetings with them and with head of state Schüssel, this was the first time that an Albanian socialist prime minister was warmly received by representatives of the right wing. The latter were careful to maintain a stable relationship with Austria. They therefore left open the possibility that this relationship could also extend to the economic sphere. This also reflected the new spirit of Albanian diplomacy. More than anything, it has been valued and has turned him into a welcomed guest in Austria, even though the same prime minister had previously been received by right-wing leaders in the Netherlands.
