RUNOFF ELECTION

You who did not vote on 26 July, do not forget that victory in the local elections and democracy need your support and help. The weight of your vote is great. Vote for Democratic Party candidates, because in this way you strongly support democracy and your future!

DEMOCRACY, THE ONLY HOPE, THE ONLY REALITY

Our decision in the face of the desperate, confronted with evil and injustice, is anger, but not blind anger without purpose. Of course, we are fighting against a government that has decided to usurp an entire wealth that is not its own. It is using the police, the courts and the administration to intimidate citizens, silence criticism and revive the old habits of violence. But this cannot last. There can be no stability without freedom, no order without justice, no state without citizens who believe in their state. Albania today needs a new beginning. We cannot go on with deception, propaganda and empty promises. Democracy is not just a word, nor a decoration for official speeches. It is the way a nation lives, the way human dignity, property, the vote and free speech are respected. Whoever violates these is against the people, regardless of what slogans they mouth. If we remain silent today, tomorrow it will be too late. If today we accept arbitrariness, tomorrow we will lose every right. So this is a call to citizens, intellectuals, young people, workers and peasants: do not leave the country at the mercy of those who want power for themselves. Join the voice of reason, the voice of freedom and truth. Democracy is the only hope, the only reality that can bring Albania out of darkness. All other roads take us backward. And our people have suffered too much to accept such a return.

POLITICAL VICTORY FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

The total number of Democratic Party voters is larger than that of the Socialist Party. The Socialist Party received the same number of votes as on 22 March. Who does Fatos Nano’s great deception serve? The balance, the government, or the sowing of tensions? INFORMATION The electoral conclusion is indisputable, or more precisely, profound. The conclusions of the statement by the chairman of the Socialist Party, Mr. Fatos Nano, are entirely inaccurate from a statistical point of view. If one looks at the number of votes obtained, the center bloc has grown locally because a larger number voted for the Democratic Party than for the left. This means that the Socialist Party won 452,277 mandates, whereas the Democratic Party won 543,281 votes. In other words, the Democratic Party won anyway. This election can also be discussed in terms of reference to parties and coalitions. On 22 March, voters of the pro-communist parties, as Fatos Nano and his supporters describe themselves, and voters of the Social Democratic Party and those united on the Democratic Party list were represented by 450,000 people, which is said to be the same as on 22 March.

Grateful acknowledgment from the Democratic Party in the Meri Pjesë district, Mr. EDUARD SELAMI

Democracy needs the culture, history and teaching of the community Yesterday around 17:30, in the square in the center of the town of Zadrima, an electoral rally was held for the Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Eduard Selami. On the platform erected in front of the executive committee building, representatives of local government, Democratic Party activists and many citizens took part. During his speech, Mr. Selami emphasized the need for a clean administration, the condemnation of old privileges and support for private initiative. He said that the country cannot move forward without severing ties with yesterday’s practices and without creating trust in the law and in the state. At the end he called on residents to vote for change and for the consolidation of democracy. Citizens also spoke at the meeting, expressing their confidence in the Democratic Party’s program and calling for quick solutions to unemployment, electricity and water supply. The meeting ended in an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Berisha’s voice awaits the solution Xhirim Mëqen and Luis Hilon

Tirana, on the demolition of the old market square flag in Tirana on Liberation Day, the president stressed that no one can benefit from chaos. According to him, order and law must prevail over narrow political and economic interests. He underlined that the government must show determination and moderation, avoiding provocations and guaranteeing the enforcement of the law for all. The Albanian state cannot move forward with double standards. If sacrifice is required from citizens, it must begin with those who hold power. The president said that the transition requires patience, but also clear and fair decisions. At the end he declared that the only solution is a democratic choice and respect for the will of the people.

Democratic alternative - the only Albanian alternative

The Socialist Party that knows only how to destroy cannot build Today’s choice of democracy in Albania is not a party issue, but a matter for society itself. The country needs stability, institutions and an economy that encourages work and property. Whoever continues to feed conflict, deny reality and hinder reforms takes responsibility for poverty and backwardness. The Socialist Party has shown that it knows how to destroy, but not how to build. It has neither a program, nor a reforming spirit, nor the will to break with the past. With a double tongue it tries to deceive public opinion, but the Albanian people increasingly understand that the future does not come from returning to the old. Therefore the democratic alternative remains the only Albanian alternative. Only it can create a new political, moral and economic order, where the citizen is at the center and honest work is rewarded. Albania needs courage, justice and a clear Western orientation.
