FEATURE Assessments of the future, however, are muted, but today more than ever it is clear that the victory of democracy in Albania would be a triumph for all Albanians. It would reward the sacrifices and effort of hundreds of thousands of people in this movement and would inspire Albanians everywhere to love their country and nation even more. In the March 22 elections, the Albanian electorate gave its clear, final and unappealable verdict. For the first time in the country's history, a system was overthrown by vote and replaced by another. This great victory of the forces of democratization is a true political revolution. It marks the most substantial phase in the process of dismantling totalitarianism, which puts an end to monolithic power and opens the way to political pluralism and democratic governance. Despite this, the Albanian transition cannot be considered complete. On the contrary, it is only at its difficult beginnings. Democracy won through long mobilization and sacrifice still needs to be consolidated in institutions, in political culture and in new social relations. Albania is entering a period in which it must define not only the new rules of the political game, but also the way in which the rule of law, the market economy and openness to the world will be built. In this sense, July 26 takes on a special symbolic meaning. It is not merely a calendar date; it is a point of reference for measuring the pace of democratic transformation and for understanding whether Albanian society will move decisively toward the future or fall prey to old obstacles. This evolution cannot rely on political rhetoric alone; it requires institutional commitment, public honesty and civic responsibility. Albanians have shown that they know how to sacrifice for freedom. Now the most important test is whether they will know how to build freedom. Only in this way can July 26 enter the logic of evolution and not remain a slogan of the day. Democracy is not a single event, but a process measured by results, by justice and by human dignity.

Gramoz Ruçi, the hare and the deer and... MP? Last night, in a program on an Italian television channel, an interview with Gramoz Ruçi was broadcast. In it, he tried to present himself as a representative of a normal opposition, but his words and positions brought back to mind the old figure of an official of the previous regime. The author of the article points out that a large part of the Albanian public knows very well his role in the final years of the dictatorship and during the period of political crisis. For this reason, the question of whether he can appear today simply as a deputy remains, according to the article, not only rhetorical but also moral. In the Albanian field and, as for the surface area of the 9 blocks designated for exploration, with an area of 22,555 square kilometers.
