Napoliani Piece: Did Fitore Bonavota
cut it backwards?!
It was the beginning of 1943 when the first foundations for organizing partisan groups were laid in Albania. The war, despite all its difficulties, quickly became part of the country’s life. In this atmosphere, many figures lined up on the side of the movement, but just as quickly clashes began over its political direction.
As events unfolded, the well-known names of the time were used as symbols, as pretexts and as tools to legitimize the political line that was being consolidated. Many of those who initially had an important role were later pushed into oblivion or condemned, according to the needs of propaganda.
The article brings back into focus the figure of Fitore Bonavota and her relationship with the political circumstances of the time. The question raised is whether she was deliberately left aside, or whether historical memory was distorted by the victors. This issue is also linked to the way the official history of the war and of power was later constructed.

TO EXPAND “Rilindja Demokratike”
TO EXPAND
“Rilindja Demokratike”
For quite some time now, the newspaper has been dealing with the problem of being reduced in size, a problem which, it seems, has become permanent, because even our foreign-press correspondents had made it clear that the main problem of publishing in Albania is the lack of raw material. There has not been a shortage of funds, but a shortage of paper. Meanwhile, the import of timber raw material, necessary for paper production, has been almost completely blocked. This has meant that, despite the newspaper’s efforts, we have not been able to ensure that readers have the usual daily issue in their hands.
In these circumstances, the help offered for the establishment of a modern factory for the production of newsprint is an event of particular importance. This initiative is linked to a possible credit and to the interest of partners from Kuwait in helping our country.
For this reason, President Berisha’s visit to Kuwait also has a practical significance for the Albanian press and especially for our newspaper. In the conditions of a ruined economy and a stunted market, securing paper becomes a condition for the survival of the free press.
If this assistance is realized, not only the press but many other branches of the economy will also have the chance to breathe more freely. That is why this visit is being followed with special attention and hope by public opinion.

Speech by Mr. Tomor Dosti at the historic session of the Regjo Emilië government
The year 1992 truly marks the end of an era for Albania. After decades of isolation and denial of fundamental freedoms, our country has entered the path of democratic transformation. Albania’s return to the European family is not only a political aspiration, but a historical necessity.
On this path, the support of our friends in Italy and in Europe has been of particular importance. We consider cooperation with the Italian regions, and especially with Regjo Emilian, to be a valuable contribution to the country’s economic, institutional and cultural rebuilding.
Albania has its rightful place in civilized Europe. Our people belong to that tradition and that civilization which today is being rebuilt on the basis of democracy, freedom and human rights. For this reason, we want open, honest and long-term relations with our partners.
Support for the development of infrastructure, education, healthcare and production is essential. But just as important is the exchange of democratic experience and the strengthening of institutions. Only in this way will our European integration gain lasting substance.
We express our gratitude to all those who have stood by Albania in difficult times, and we are convinced that future cooperation will bear abundant fruit for both peoples.
