This euphoria, which seeks to “light a raging fire among the ranks of PS members and its sympathizers,” recalls the 45-year-old tactics of the PP(S) and the anonymous marchers of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, with wall posters, pamphlets, calls for overthrow and revolutionary fire, from which the PS can never seem to free itself. From this defense taken to the absurd, anyone in the world could draw some conclusions about the event in question and entertain some suspicions, which “ZP” reinforces every day. First, if they are eager to proclaim Ilir Meta an innocent hero, the only one in the mafia movies, he is lying and publicly deceiving people by saying that he was not in Poliçan, when the facts clearly say otherwise. Third. Why is the issue of lifting MP Ilir Meta’s immunity presented as “a new attack being carried out by certain demobilizing democratic forces in Albania”? The individual and justice will be the foremost values of the new democratic state. Therefore, it cannot allow them to be trampled—not by an MP named Ilir, nor by any other Enverist who imagines dictatorship returning this rainy autumn. Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mines Franko Kroqi, and Deputy Minister of Internal Trade Rakip Shaqti met with representatives of the independent united trade union of Albania’s miners, geologists, and mineral processors, headed by its chairman, Gëzim Kalaja. It is true that the market today reflects many shortages and high prices. But it is also true that, since it depends almost entirely on aid, this dependence provides a legitimate explanation for how the market is regulated. It is enough to remember that a delay of even a few days in finalizing contracts throws the market out of balance for months. Nevertheless, with consumers’ interests in mind and, moreover, with a journalist’s obligation to inform citizens about the progress of aid deliveries, we sought information from the Directorate of Trade Activity. We learned that, under the second aid package allocated by Italy, 2,000 tons of sugar have been delivered out of a planned 10,000 tons; 1,000 tons of oil out of a planned 8,000 tons; 1,200 tons of cheese out of a total of 6,000 tons; and 1,000 tons of rice out of a total of 5,000 tons. Thus, most of this aid remains undelivered and is expected to be delivered according to the following schedule: 2,000 tons [the source text is unclear here]. 5,000 tons of powdered milk have arrived and are being distributed. The delivery of 9,000 tons of meat has also begun. So far, 1,800 tons have arrived. Around 25 October, another 3,400 tons are expected, while 1,520 tons should arrive at the beginning of November. The third source of food supplies is the USA, which has allocated food aid amounting to 16,173 tons of oil and 4,200 tons of butter. Of this, 4,200 tons of oil will be delivered between 25 October and 5 November; 8,250 tons between 25 November and 5 December; and 37,223 tons of oil in the final ten days of December. Aid from Greece is also continuing in the form of packages: of the 25,000 tons allocated, 13,000 tons have arrived and been distributed. Recently, 3,700 tons of sunflower oil arrived; this quantity has been sent to the country’s food-processing enterprises to be processed and distributed to all districts. As can be seen, the figures show that most of the supply these deadlines: 2,000 tons of cheese around 15–16 October, 2,000 tons around 26 October, and another 2,000 tons from 6 November. An oil tender has been held, meaning the supplier has been identified, and delivery is awaited. 4,000 tons of rice will be delivered as follows: 500 tons around 15–16 October, 1,500 tons around 26 October, and 2,000 tons in the first ten days of November. The delegation of the Ministry of Health and Environmental Protection, headed by Mr. Tritan Shehu, took part in the seminar held in Bonn, Germany. At the conclusion of this seminar, which will continue for five days, both sides will discuss a wide range of issues relating to protection and mutual cooperation in this field. The seminar was addressed by Mr. Klimens Shtratman, State Secretary at the German Ministry for the Environment, and the Minister of Health and Environmental Protection, Mr. Tritan Shehu. The speech of that mountain nobleman moved the father to tell his son: «It is our honour to go to his hovel and ask whether he needs anything, because he has been a nobleman of our kin, but...» (Ah, those buts!!!..:). We’ll have coffee with him, the father continued, but we’ll ask him, «for Albania’s sake» (the quotation marks are mine), to take him to Durrës, to the Veterans’ Committee, to ask Lilo (the head of the veterans, a veteran) for forgiveness for the eye he lost when his militiamen wounded him during the war. (!!!). His son, with profound and unavoidable indignation, addressed his father: — Aren’t you ashamed! Thanks to that eye, that Lilo got himself posted to all the world’s embassies as a «diplomat» of the PP; he left no relative or friend unprovided for, and got all his children through higher education and set them up! Aren’t you ashamed that you don’t take it upon yourself to «convince» those who killed, persecuted and terrorized 13 members of your family—or rather, mine, since perhaps you have disowned them—to make a public apology, not to mention the Enverian genocide inflicted on that whole region?! But who could cover up the son’s expression and his indignation toward his father with the veil of morality?!

A timely contribution Certainly, everyone can make a personal contribution to the well-being and prosperity of the country without being involved in any political party. This is true of a range of professions. But it is just as true that an aware and committed part of the nation is active in the ranks of a political party that enjoys the trust and sympathy of the majority of the people! At particular moments in its history, especially at times of historical turning points, every nation calls upon its best sons to render special service. In the days we are living through, when the regressive and anti-national communist-socialist forces have openly opposed democratic developments, so deeply desired by the overwhelming majority of our people and nation, a group of lecturers from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at UT, early sympathizers of the Democratic Party and, generally, previously unaffiliated with any political party, endorse and support the Declaration of our colleagues at the Faculty of Medicine. They consider our active involvement in democratic developments, by joining the ranks of the DP, to be a duty of the times. The DP is the principal political force that has taken responsibility for the nation’s fate in these difficult times, enjoys the trust and support of the majority of the nation, both at home and abroad, as well as that of the international community.
