THE SUCCESSES OF THE 9-MONTH GOVERNMENT
The assessment of the Democratic Government’s work reflects achievement – its activity so far gives optimism for the future
–
Today, during the lengthy debate on the government’s work over the first 9 months of its activity and on the country’s economic policy and prospects, members of parliament and government ministers provided quite realistic analyses of what has been achieved so far and of the problems that will require solutions in the future.
Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi, in his speech, emphasized that the government took over a country sunk in a deep economic and social crisis, with major shortages and a very heavy legacy. He underlined that, despite these difficulties, important steps have been taken to establish order, to begin economic reforms and to open the country to the world.
The discussions mentioned market stabilization, improved supply, the start of privatization and efforts to create democratic institutions. It was also stressed that reforms take time and sacrifice, but they are essential in order to bring the country out of the difficult situation in which it finds itself.
Various deputies also raised concerns about unemployment, the decline in production, the lack of energy and the difficult social situation of vulnerable groups. According to them, the government should increase care for the poorest categories and speed up the pace of reforms.
In conclusion, the conviction was expressed that, with the support of the people and political determination, the coming year will bring better results for the economy and for citizens’ lives.
