On Wednesday, at around 19:00, a group of European parliamentarians visited the headquarters of the PDSH. The distinguished guests were received by the chairman of the PDSH, Mr. Eduard Selami, and by Messrs. Dosti, Vrioni, Vejsiu and Minga. At the start of the conversation, the European parliamentarians stressed that their presence in Albania demonstrated support for reform, for the democratic government and for President Berisha. If you do not carry out the reform you have begun, then there is no other chance for Albania. Mr. Selami thanked the distinguished parliamentarians for their visit and for their support for democracy and reform in Albania. It is important, Mr. Selami continued, that we are taking our first steps with the support and backing of your countries, which have developed democracies. I especially thank the Democratic parliamentary group for its commitment and continued assistance to the PD and to Albanian democratic forces in general. We are trying to build democracy, and in this great effort, it is no secret, we need help and therefore ask for more. Analyzing the political situation in the country, after noting the contribution of the parties in the governing coalition, Mr. Selami also addressed the activity and stance of the opposition, the PS. - Dokle, standard-bearer of lies and deceit. - He lies in Vlore, lies in Berat, lies in Parliament, lies to the world... - The man who kills Albanians for the fourth time - 2 presidential votes for the man of anti-national declarations - The violator of free speech wants to rehabilitate The former presidential candidate, pro-Serbian MP Namik Dokle, commandeering the platforms of PS rallies and the pages of “ZP,” viciously attacks the Albanian state, honor and national identity. This intriguer, a black demagogue in appearance and thought, a toady of R. Alia and a parrot of F. Nano, with the manner of a servant to Enverian barbers, has the mad audacity to accuse the PD and its government of the killings of young Albanians by Serbian soldiers, of the economy that is now recovering, and of the crimes of the past and of the transition. This Dokle-Viç, who at the beginning of ’91 made “ZP” a fascist newspaper, does not want to know about his own past, or that of his comrades and friends in the former PP, who yesterday killed Albanians from both sides. Enver’s, Ramiz’s and Namik’s army turned them back at the border, and Milošević’s army did so from the other side of the border. After the second killings, Dokle’s hand killed them for the third time in “ZP,” where it called them criminals; and today he is killing them for the fourth time, by denying who really murdered them. Albanian boys and girls took up arms not when the PD won, but when the PRS won [unclear], when Namik’s colleague, Kastrio(?) closed the university, when Namik’s newspaper “ZP” shrieked like a Nazi in defense of their father, Enver Hoxha. Albanian youth wanted L.M.PB and the Trade Unions, these demagogues and rabble... today have the shameful audacity to accuse democracy of the very crimes they themselves committed. N. Dokle’s pro-Milošević declaration, in which he undertakes not only to accuse the democratic Government of the killings by Serbian soldiers, but also to justify Serbian terror in Kosovo and at our border, is an anti-national declaration from beginning to end. A declaration worthy of Čubrilloviç, a declaration that undertakes to muddy democratic developments in Albania. The sweetest words of an Albanian, when heard from the mouth and in the voice of N. Dokle, are distorted and come to stink of delirium, fratricide, Bolshevism and dictatorship. He who calls Albanian journalists Serbs (while being entirely misinformed), because they criticize Dokle’s base patriotism; he who attributes the accursed deeds of 50 years of dictatorship to the PD’s one-year rule; he who abuses the freedoms of democracy, using public platforms to spread his Goebbelsian ideas; he who exploits parliamentary immunity to reveal his other nationality; he who exploits parliamentary immunity to reveal a nationality whose name contains the word “friend” and whose surname contains Serbian place-names, is out of place in the democratic sphere. He is a violator of freedom of speech and national identity, and therefore his place is only before justice and the law. OLTION BARDHI

Prime Minister Aleksander Meksi received the Slovenian ambassador, Marko Kosin, in his office. The intensification of bilateral relations in all fields, the crisis in the region and the upcoming visit to Albania by Slovenian Prime Minister Drnovshek were the main issues discussed during the meeting. Dokle was destroying the economy, culture, science, life and future of all Albanians. It was R. Alia who killed N. Dokle’s fellow villager in Kukes in 1988. It was G. Ruçi who, with his policemen, killed the four innocent Shkoder martyrs who were asking for bread to live. It was F. Nano who, at the head of the Albanian mafia, put the money meant for his people’s survival bread into his own pockets and those of Xh. Pergules. It was Namiks and other Dokles, from our own Doklevici, who together barbarized this nation. And it is precisely these common murderers and corrupt individuals, these nostalgics and loyal followers of E. Hoxha, these creatures of the State Security Service, the Institute of Studies M[ text cut off]

The Chairman of the Presidium of the People’s Assembly, Mr Pjetër Arbnori, received the member of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany and of the European Parliament, Mr Otto Von Habsburg. Mr Von Habsburg expressed his sympathy and support for the democratic processes in Albania and wished that our country, too, would soon become a member of European organizations. (ATSH)

Apparently, the greatest calamity in Nano’s life will prove to be his fall from the prime minister’s chair. Otherwise, there is no way to explain why the “ZP” has also put the miners of Valësh in the crosshairs of its attacks, in order to protect his interests. — Interpellation with the Governor of the State Bank, Ilir Hoti — At the request of the group of independent MPs, the Governor of the Bank of the Albanian State, Mr Ilir Hoti, appeared for an interpellation on Thursday afternoon. Explaining the reason for the interpellation, MP Imami said, “We are asking for transparency to shed light on the Arsidi financial scandal and on the responsibility of his collaborators in Albania.” Taking the floor, Mr Hoti said that the French citizen Nikola Arsidi had been authorized by former Prime Minister Ahmeti to act as an intermediary on the issue of the Albanian government’s foreign debt. He explained that the agreement signed between him, as Governor of the Bank of Albania, and Mr Arsidi covered the period from March to September 1992, and stipulated that the payment of 1.6 million US dollars would be paid to the intermediary only after he had fulfilled his obligation. However, the payment was made by the Commercial Bank, in complete violation of the agreement; moreover, the Commercial Bank had no obligation to make it. Regarding the signature on the document for payment of the sum of 1.6 million dollars, Mr Hoti said it was forged. Mr Hoti explained that (Continued on page 4)
