WHEN WAS ALBANIA LIBERATED?
“Revisionists say on 29 November, the beats of history say on 28 November”
It was not only “some” minorities who did the work of congresses and national assemblies. History was also made by members of Balli Kombëtar, Legaliteti, the clergy, patriots and other nationalists. It is just that history erased them through the method of the “popular sovereign,” and they are now being “searched for at all costs” and re-evaluated day by day. Everything is changing. History is one of those “sciences” that cannot escape the pressure of change. It could hardly be otherwise, when entire generations have grown up with “truths” uncovered by politics and now face other documents and facts.
“29 November” still remains one of the most debated knots in Albanian history. Part of historians and politics link liberation to the date 29, others to 28 November. This page brings opinions, documents and interpretations on this issue.
