Rilindja Demokratike

There are no latecomers among us Democrats

“The Democratic Party did not promise heaven on earth, and how can people become rich? The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Albania, Mr. Tritan Shehu, Minister Manushi and MP Vasil Gji[a?] meet with residents of the Përmet district.” “The Democratic Party did not promise heaven on earth, and how can people become rich? The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Albania, Mr. Tritan Shehu, Minister Manushi and MP Vasil Gji[a?] meet with residents of the Përmet district. Amid the noise deliberately created in order to sensitize public opinion and convey to it some elements of the political programs of the Albanian opposition, recently, as a special moment of this sensitization, the space of Mr. Fatos Nano’s communications has become more noticeable, with denser and unusual messages. This not only blurs the effects of normal two-way communication between political forces, but discourages the citizen, making him indifferent to words and actions, while leaving the latter a victim of the moral and political effects of alternating words without deeds. In the town of Sukë near Përmet, the residents had gathered with the workers of the fruit and vegetable processing plant, embroiderers and pensioners. The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Albania, Mr. Tritan Shehu, accompanied by Përmet MP Vasil Gji[a?], Minister of Defense Mr. Safet Zhulali and the head of the Democratic Party branch for the Përmet district, Mr. Piro Ahmetaj, informed those present about the difficult but certain path of the democrats to lead Albania out of the condition inherited from communism, overcoming everyday difficulties. Calling for the economic reform to be understood and supported by young and old alike, Mr. Shehu said that the only way to save the Albanian economy is for every individual to strive to secure a livelihood through his or her own abilities and opportunities. For the socialists, he said, former owners and former persecuted people are still seeking justice, but justice cannot become a mechanism for multiplying injustices. He said that the Albanian people are learning very quickly that democracy does not mean getting rich overnight, but winning freedom of expression, the right to property, and the opportunity to choose. In a free market economy, wealth comes from work, honesty and private initiative. “The Democratic Party did not promise heaven on earth,” said Mr. Shehu, “because it knows that the road to saving Albania is not through empty promises, but through sacrifice, work and civic responsibility.” The meeting continued with numerous questions from local residents regarding land privatization, unemployment, pensions and the issue of public investment in infrastructure. The participants asked the government to pay more attention to remote areas and families in need, while the democratic representatives assured them that they would do everything possible to help solve these problems.

DELIKARAP

of the leadership of the General Council of the Organization of Christian Democratic Parties (E.P.) for Veterans and Disabled Persons of the National Liberation War. It also seems that the propaganda of part of the opposition has become even more incomprehensible after the statements made by Mr. Nano himself in the television program “Opinion”, where he said bluntly and without hesitation that under a socialist government the decline in living standards would continue until the level of “filand”. This thus leaves the impression that they not only do not know the way to save our country, but can do nothing other than continue the destruction at an even greater pace. Under precisely these conditions, the organizations representing the persecuted strata and the freedom fighters must clearly express their stance in support of the democratic processes. We consider it necessary that the veterans and disabled persons of the National Liberation War not fall prey to the demagoguery and empty promises of those who yesterday used them and today want to put them back in the service of old politics. We are convinced that only the democratic forces have the will and the ability to move the country forward, to consolidate the rule of law, and to put an end to the privileges of the past. Therefore, we call on all veterans and disabled persons of the National Liberation War to support the reform processes and not become instruments of the return to the past.

The “success” of the PS conference

“The success” of the PS conference Why do you follow this with such interest and passion? E.P., a small newspaper of the poor people of Albania, certainly does not have the “luck” to become an organizer and send millions of messages to the USA. It neither has the desire nor the means to do such things. It has not organized, nor will it organize, luxury campaigns, meetings or forums. Its only duty is to tell the truth about what it sees and what it hears. And the truth is this: The conference organized by the Socialist Party in Durrës was a miserable propaganda display, with limited attendance and a striking poverty of ideas. The attempt to present it as a great success was based only on pompous statements, not on real substance. Its representatives repeated old slogans against the government without offering any concrete alternative. Instead of analyzing the economic and social situation, only political accusations and complaints about the loss of former privileges were heard. Citizens, tired of empty words, are waiting for solutions, not spectacles. Therefore, the “success” of this conference remains only on the pages of Socialist Party propaganda.
