STATEMENT OF THE YOUTH FORUM OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

The Youth Forum of the Democratic Party expresses its indignation and strongly rejects the statement of the presidency of the association of politically persecuted persons, which, in an unjust and misleading manner, is echoing the unconstitutional action of a group of opposition deputies. Considering as slander and a source of disinformation any insinuation by the Greek press and anti-Albanian circles that article 24 of the draft constitution supposedly allows political proselytizing in Albania in the name of religion, we state with full responsibility that all parliamentary procedures, from the Special Constitutional Commission to the vote in Parliament on this article, are entirely normal and fully democratic, far from any prejudice or corruption. Any distortion of constitutional and parliamentary procedures seriously damages Albania’s image in the world and encourages destabilization of political life in the country. We are convinced that every Albanian clearly understands that the amendment submitted by a group of opposition deputies of a maneuvering and populist type, under the formal claim of defending article 24, is an anti-democratic and unconstitutional act, while the content of this amendment was clearly favorable to a suspicious anti-Albanian activity. Strongly condemning the signing of the petition organized at the urging of the opposition by an association legally created in Parliament to protect the stratum of former politically persecuted persons, which is politically misusing the association and causing great harm to the solution of their problems, we ask that the politically persecuted also respond seriously and firmly to the call to distance themselves from anti-democratic and unconstitutional actions. We are concerned by the divided and confused stance of the Socialist Party, which is acting with a double standard in Parliament and is openly against the draft Constitution, while in its official statement it admits that the vote on article 24 was procedurally and formally legally regular. We warn that irresponsible and anti-democratic actions on sensitive constitutional issues are an unnecessary and destabilizing tension for the country, and in this sense we call on public opinion to expose and isolate any extremist behavior. WE BELIEVE IN A DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM AND NOT IN A TOTALITARIAN SOCIALISM

-The best dissidents in Greece recognized the Albanian state and church -It is clear that that Albanian political force which became the changer of recent times must in no way be identified with the PSSH in any aspect. [text partially illegible] The chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Socialist Party of Greece 'PASHOK', Dr. Mihailis Haralambidhis, in an interview with the newspaper 'Rilindja Demokratike' said that he is dissatisfied with the recent events in Albania and considered the statement of the presidency of the association of politically persecuted persons to be unjust. He expressed concern about extreme political polarization and emphasized that the modern left must be based on democracy and not on the totalitarian model. TOO LATE, OR NOT?!

-Nano asks for the depositions to begin again from the start- My impression is that the dossier case has been used as a political weapon to create noise and evade real responsibility. Mr. Nano's request to restart the depositions from the beginning comes at a time when public opinion expects clarification, not delay. [partial text] EDI LAJTHA (Continues on p. 8)
