TOWARD THE EXPANSION OF THE PD RANKS IN LAÇ

An expanded meeting of the PD branch of the Laç district was held - Leaders of PDSH took part: Mr. Tritan Shehu, Foreign Minister, Dashamir Shehi, chairman of the PDSH Group in the People’s Assembly In Durrës in the afternoon, for an hour the hall of the cultural center was so full that even the most hidden places were occupied. More than 1,000 people had come from Laç, Rubik, Kurbin, Milot and the surrounding villages to take part in the expanded meeting of the PDSH branch of the Laç district. As its chairman, Mr. Nikollë Merna, described it, this meeting comes on the eve of the local elections of 1 October and of the process of expanding the PD ranks, within the framework of the party’s major political commitment. The event was chaired by Mr. Pjetër Arbnori, deputy chairman of PDSH. In the expanded report presented by Mr. Merna, it was said that here the creation of the PD branch has been, and remains, not only a political victory, but above all an emancipation of the city. In his speech he emphasized that the PD structures in Laç and Fushë-Krujë have been consolidated day by day and have gained considerable influence over the population. The hall of the cultural center applauded loudly the participants who had come from Tirana. Among them were Mr. Tritan Shehu, Dashamir Shehi, Albert Brojka, who is also chairman of the PDSH branch for Tirana, as well as deputies from the area. Mr. Tritan Shehu, on behalf of the PDSH leadership, greeted the participants, stressing that the PD is the force of reforms, stability and European integration for Albania. He noted that the expansion of the party is a necessity in order to meet new challenges. Dashamir Shehi spoke about the need to bring broad social groups closer to the PD and to prepare seriously for the local elections. He particularly dwelt on the need for better local administration and for increasing citizens’ trust in institutions. At the end, questions and discussions were held by the participants and determination for victory in the upcoming elections was expressed. (Continued on page 4)

He underlined that there are no unresolved problems between the two countries and that the shared interests of stability in the Balkans require close neighborly relations. THE PRIME MINISTER MEKSI’S INTERPELLATION

- The miners who unlawfully pave roads and squares with urban mines are holding the life of the capital hostage - State activity is descending into chaos (Speaks in the People’s Assembly) Yesterday’s session of the People’s Assembly was marked by heated discussions about the situation created in Tirana and in several other cities. Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi, replying to the interpellation, declared that the unlawful actions of certain groups are hindering the normal life of citizens and the functioning of the state. He said that the use of "urban mine" is a metaphor for the serious situation and the tension created by blockades, protests and acts that undermine public order. According to him, the activity of the administration and the institutions is descending into chaos and the government is determined to act in accordance with the law. There were reactions in the chamber from opposition and majority deputies. The Prime Minister stressed that the government will continue the dialogue, but will not tolerate violations of the law. THE PD IN KORÇË HAS NEVER BEEN BURNED

From the new hall "Lirija" Last night, throughout the time during the news broadcast on several radio stations, we received a series of phone calls from Korçë denying the report that the PD headquarters had been burned. Some citizens from Korçë described this news as a low political slander. In the newsroom it was clarified that the building mentioned is not the PD headquarters, but another structure. Representatives of the PD branch in Korçë said that the party’s activity continues normally.
