President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, received the High Prelate of the Church for Sister [?] Van der Shtul. The President described the visit to Albania as a sign of solidarity, understanding and love from the Catholic Church for people in need and in misfortune. He said that Albania is moving decisively along the road of democracy, development and integration with Europe, despite facing many difficulties. President Berisha expressed his conviction that the Church's help and care will continue to be precious for the Albanian people. Monsignor Van der Shtul, for her part, praised the Albanians' commitment to freedom and democracy and expressed her willingness to continue helping.

Prime Minister Aleksandër Meksi received yesterday in Tirana the president of the Italian region of Puglia, J. Pavellota. The meeting discussed the expansion of economic, trade and cultural cooperation between Albania and the Puglia region, as well as the promotion of investments and joint projects. The parties expressed their readiness to deepen relations and create more favorable conditions for reciprocal exchanges.

Referring to the files and materials presented, the defense argued that the trial could not be based on assumptions and political formulas. It was emphasized that individual responsibilities must be clearly separated from the responsibilities of the system. Names, events and decisions were mentioned which, according to the parties, had led to tragic consequences. The debate focused on the legal meaning of responsibility and on documentary evidence.

After the charges were read out, Ramiz Alia stated that he did not understand or accept them. His defense requested procedural clarifications and objected to the wording of the accusation. The session then focused on the content of the documents and individual responsibilities.

At one point during the hearing, Ramiz Alia requested that the trial be broadcast live, arguing that the public should be informed of the full truth. The request caused different reactions in the courtroom and was widely commented on by those present.

Yesterday in Lushnjë a meeting was held with residents and local representatives, where opportunities for economic development, infrastructure improvement and the revival of agricultural production were discussed. The need for investment, irrigation system improvements and support for private farms was discussed. Residents called for more attention to employment issues and the marketing of products. Local representatives expressed their conviction that the area is on the threshold of a new opportunity for development.
