MENTOR SHEHU
It is no coincidence that precisely in Shkodër, in this anti-
communist despised city, what was perhaps the largest
cemetery of Enverian crime was uncovered. It is not a whim
of the dictatorship that precisely Shkodër, its underground,
became the most important grave of the political opponents
of the regime, patriots, distinguished intellectuals, ordinary
people who wanted an Albania without communism, without
dictatorship, who wanted a free Albania.
This gigantic black pit, opened in Shkodër, one of the most
monstrous graves, was unquestionable evidence of communist
genocide, that genocide that crossed all the limits of the
imaginary of perfected criminals.
With medieval inquisitions without a half... how could a
criminal regime like that of Enver Hoxha survive for half a
century, without at its foundation a gigantic tomb filled with
the corpses of opponents? And how could such a criminal
state live without extinguishing thousands of innocent lives.
And how could this shame of humanity, this vampire of
modern times, live without the blood of thousands and

LORENC LIGORI
At the beginning of this week, a high-level delegation of
the Council of Europe visited Albania. The delegation
was headed by the Deputy Secretary General of the CoE,
Peter Leuprecht, and its members included the Human
Rights Department official Pierr Imbert, Legal Affairs
director Guy Level, the Deputy President of the
Constitutional Court of Austria Karl Priks, and the member
of the CoE CPT Rudolf Machacek. As is known, the focus
of the visit was important issues of post-communist
countries, human rights, the functioning of justice, etc.
The CoE delegation formed an opinion on the situation in
Albania. After completing a packed program of meetings
with high-ranking personalities in the country, the Deputy
Secretary General of the CoE declared to RD:
“They leave with the firm conviction that Albania has
made extraordinarily great progress with regard to
democracy, the rule of law, and human rights”.
In the agenda of meetings held, the high-level
delegation of the Council of Europe lacked meetings
with the Albanian opposition. On such matters, delegations
of this level visiting other former communist countries
begin with the opposition. So why this exception for the
Albanian opposition? The reasons are many. First of all,
the indifference and disregard toward the PS in their talks
with PAD is seen first as a result of an incompatible stance.
And the PSD comes as a result of the Albanian opposition
being united in its position on the country’s membership in
the CoE. Vice-chairman Namik Dokle cannot convince
anyone from the European audience with his otherwise
generally known stance. The statements about “unripe
apples” have as their only equivalent the positions of
Zhirinovsky toward the CoE. When Dokle’s “unripe
apples”, the Socialist Party opened from the international
perspective of Ethem Ruka’s governance. The other vice-
chairman, Servet Pëllumbi, regarding the delegation’s
disregard toward the PS, “heartbreaker” states: “we will
continue the cooperation”. But earlier under the term
“cooperation” he had listed only “denunciations”,
“numerous violations of human rights”, “tension traffic”,
etc. Nothing more about the Albanian democratic
processes.
Europe knows you and knows what it values. Before
Europeans are expected to wait for and listen to the
opposition, it must understand the pulse of today’s Europe.
Today’s Europe is not made by Marxism, centralized
economy, anti-NATO anti-Western phobias. It is not
made by former agents of the secret police of communist
dictatorships. Today’s opposition must understand the
messages of Europe, of a number of its personalities and
of the United States, which recently have openly
addressed Albanians about the risk of the return to power
of Albanian former conservative communists.
One does not go to Europe, much less can one claim
support and extended hands by calculating from the
direction of reformist intellectuals, which is stubbornly
handled by the caricature of the chief agency Gramoz
Ruçi. One does not go to Europe at the end of the 20th
century with the slogans of Marx and those of Hoxhaism,
or with the sentimental chronicles of NATO or its bases.
Analysis
Analogies of extremists
Analogies
of extremists
SAMI MILLOSHI
Served up in intrigue, confused in ideas, without friends and
without identity, the head of the PS, with Machiavellian
methods, tries to exploit for his own political ends the most
different events in the world, which have no connection at
all with Albanian reality. Thus, for example, it is clear that
yesterday through ZP, the head of the PS sought to make an
analogy between Rabin’s murder and the situation in
Albania, which according to the writers of the ideas of Ruçi
and Pëllumbi is “tense” and that “the direct responsibility for
this is the President of Albania” (ZP 10.11.1995).
The shameless flatterers that the publicity of the PS and its
backward videos peddle today go so far as to identify such a
difficult, complex and great process as the peace process in
the Middle East with the relations between two political
parties in Albania. There could be no more classic absurdity.
Notice how the cynic expresses himself in yesterday’s ZP.
After Rabin’s murder, Shimon Peres declared that even
afterward the government’s main commitment would be to
continue the peace process, even more important than the
commitment to win the elections in (It refers to peace with
the Palestinians).
Has President Berisha received this same message?
In what you scribble, even a person of very low education
would be reminded that Albania is not Israel, but a country
that is still healing the wounds of a fifty-year dictatorship.
So the main commitment of the Albanian government has
neither been nor can be the identification with the Israeli
government. On the other hand, the stance toward its own
failings, nor a stance that is identical or to be imitated, as
another name that is the Balkans, and allegedly called the
Middle East. Nevertheless, those who analyze ZP, even
though it has very often used the word “peace” might
remind them that the international devilish authorities have
welcomed Albania’s stance and President Berisha as a factor
of peace and stability in the Balkans. If Ruçi and Pëllumbi do
not want to accept this truth, that is their affair, but in any
case it is an undeniable truth.
The fact that the head of the PS, through his writers in ZP,
seeks to identify Israeli right-wing extremists with the stance
of the Albanian opposition is as crude as it is sinister. “Isaac
Rabin - writes ZP - fell victim to the hatred of right-wing
extremism. Here, too, now the language of hatred and division
used by the PD has not taken human lives. However, even in
Albania it has produced its bitter fruits..."
First of all, anyone to whom the analyst of ZP turns could
remind him that the known truth, we believe, is also in
Israel, that in Albania it is not the far right that governs, but
a party (the PD) that has not only a program, but the whole
activity of a center-right party. Whereas Ruçi’s party still has
Marxism in its program and some of its leaders have called on
“the masses to rush forward under the slogan of smashing
skulls.” All this can only place the PS, for now at least, as
the far left of the Albanian political spectrum. However,
what should this ZP analyst know, who goes all the way to
Israel to find analogies, extremists meet, and, somewhat
surprisingly, the probability of the identity of the language of
hate and of the extreme right-wing extremist analysis of the
Israeli murder with someone in Albania is sought more easily
in the most criminalized segments of the PS, which have still
used as an ideology hatred that has been calculated from
afar and near to them. So, willingly or unwillingly, the author
of the sensitive article in ZP “The Message from Jerusalem”
may have deconspiratorily revealed the mechanism of the
language of hatred that thrives in certain segments of the PS.
There too is the explosive charge of the tension of the
situation, which, in truth, in Albania is completely normal.
The tension is in the hot heads of the PS leaders, otherwise,
a piece of writing that they just seem to have and finish with
demagogy as a “campaign” of defending the interests of the
underprivileged.

Asked by RD about Neritan Ceka’s statement that no
PAD member had handed in his membership card, the
Secretary General of the PD, Tritan Shehu, said:
“Mr. Ceka, unlike Mr. Llami who admits the departure of 200
PAD members, replies in a deceptive manner and throws dust
in the public’s eyes, saying that they did not hand in their
party cards at the offices of the PD Branch, Durrës. I tell Mr.
Ceka that he is free to go and collect the membership cards
of the former members of his party, since they are now
deposited at the offices of the PD Branch, Durrës and,
perhaps, may be useful to him for new memberships. In
addition, I think Mr. Ceka should be concerned by the fact
that now, with the approach of the director..., this phenomenon
is happening, which, as we know, is spreading throughout
the districts of the country. Apparently, this is happening
now because the director is once again reminding people of
the shameful declarations of Ceka about being on Alia’s side,
which together they tried to bring about the destruction of
Albanian democracy and, what is worse, they present a kind
of ... Particularly, the future of a party, born of failure, which
has been created by failures, led by fake failures Ceka, is an
outrage.”
The anti-Western madness of the PS leaders has crossed every limit

Enterprise Found” and its esteemed chairman Domenic Scallone are also

EDI PALOKA
The madness of “ZP” in its attacks against
personalities of the West has crossed every limit.
After attacking in the most shameless way
senators, congressmen and even ministers of
developed democratic countries, after attacking
NATO and the USA themselves (through illegal
anti-enemy tracts of the attacks on the Albanian-
American Investment Fund and the esteemed
Domenic Scallone, the chairman of this Fund.
This kind of arrogance, once considered devotion
to the medieval principles of E. Hoxha, today has
completely taken over the conservative leaders of
the PS and their poster newspaper.
As is known, the American-Albanian Enterprise
Found was established under the care of the US
President Bill Clinton to help investments in Albania,
and it was President Clinton who personally
appointed Domenic Scallone, one of the most
prominent figures in American business, former
Vice President of Chase Manhattan Bank, to head
the board of this Foundation. The establishment of
this Fund, which has 30 million dollars, was a true
act of friendship to help the Albanian economy at
this stage of its development. But the anti-European
and anti-American madness that has taken over the
press of the far left spares nothing. They are ready to
turn against anyone who extends a hand to Berisha
and is offering help to Albania today.
Through former agents of the Sigurimi (who were
paid for their dirty work all over the world),
yesterday’s “ZP” manages not only to attack the
Albanian-American fund but also to accuse the
essteemed Scallone (appointed by President Clinton)
of wanting to fill his pockets with the money from the
dinner that was hosted for President Berisha in New
York.
(“And there were even waiters and waitresses in the
costs against a very symbolic price of 175 dollars.
Business is a hard trade for those who know how to do
it. Politics is too. An Italian invites Albanians to meet
their president. Scallone’s companion did not come
away empty-handed...” writes the veteran collaborator of
“ZP”.
This kind of cynicism is worthy only of the communists
at the head of the PS and the thugs of “ZP”, but it must
be reminded to these political corpses that a personality
like Scallone honors Albania by chairing the board of the
“American-Albanian Enterprise Found.”
There are other things: today those condemned by justice
were lamenting, while today they stole the Albanians’
money.
Above all, no one expects anything positive from
communists. They have nothing left but to answer the
world’s contempt with hysterical outbursts.
