further development of cooperation between

Those who seek Albania’s “stability” and “the good” of Albanians
Those who seek
Albania’s “stability”
and “the good” of
Albanians
In the afternoon of [Thursday?], on the margins
of the [ ? ] session on European
security, the Greek foreign minister,
Karolos Papoulias, made some
statements in which he referred to
Albania and its internal developments.
Referring to the recent elections and political debates in the country,
he tried to give lessons on
stability and democracy,
while Greece itself has
many unresolved problems.
Such positions, presented
as friendly, in fact contain
a paternalistic tendency and an
unacceptable interference in the
internal affairs of a sovereign
state.
Albanians do not need
political guardians, but fair
neighborly relations and
mutual respect.
Any attempt to use the rhetoric
of “stability” as a tool of
pressure on Tirana does not
serve rapprochement between the two peoples.
Instead of insinuations, it would
be more useful to support
concrete cooperation projects,
the free movement of people and the solution
of practical problems.

The aim: creating a capable school
Press conference by the Minister of Education, Teodor Laço
Aim: creating
an effective school
Press conference by the Minister of Education,
Teodor Laço
[from the overview?] of the creation of the
financial and economic picture created by
obligations inherited from
1990 onwards has
made it the source of information
and data for this
ministry. These existing budgetary
obligations inherited and
the modesty of this year's budget
have meant that so far it has not
been possible to achieve the necessary
stability for the normal implementation
of many problems in the education system.
The Minister of Education and
Culture also touched, among
other things, on issues related to the organization of the school
network and the building of a
new concept of administration
and quality improvement through
the efficient use of the
resources provided by the state budget.
Speaking about the legislative
reform, Mr. Laço said that the work of the ministry is moving
toward the creation of a modern
legal framework,
based on international standards and on the best European experience. Among the
main documents, he
mentioned the strategy for pre-university
education, the law on higher
education, as well as the by-laws for
professional and artistic education.
He also pointed out that work has
begun on drafting new textbooks
and more up-to-date curricula. At the press conference,
efforts were also discussed to improve the
working and living conditions of
teachers, as well as to encourage
cooperation with foreign organizations
that support education.

The old technique of the opposition’s screeching, Canada and Namik
The old technique of the opposition’s screeching,
Canada and Namik
SAMI MILOSHI
You cannot fail to notice that, with almost the same
language and the same tone,
Socialist officials and individual
opposition voices in foreign
newspapers and magazines
repeat unfounded accusations
against the Albanian government.
The latest smear, under the title
“the true crisis of the regime in
Albania,” tries to create the
impression of a country in
chaos, where the masses are
being impoverished and opponents
are being suppressed.
In reality, this technique is
well known: a name is raised
abroad, a distant platform is used,
and from there theses are launched
that are then recycled inside the country as an “international
authority”.
Further on, the article mentions
Canada and Namik as
references for this scheme,
but without providing concrete evidence.
Instead of analysis, we have
speculation; instead of facts,
we have epithets. This is part of the
old opposition сценарий that
aims to discredit institutions
and create insecurity.
Albanian citizens are now
clear that these propagandistic
formulas cannot hide the reality
of the efforts toward stability and reform.
