PD - first of the democrats, not an apparatus, and militarization by members and activists of the PD The old self-reformers of the year '91 today try to present themselves as "professors" of democracy The formation of the new cabinet and the very decision of the PD Presidency to pursue a clear reformist course in the conception of the party's leading structures have greatly inflamed the propaganda of the left, which has come onto the scene with pseudo-theses and pseudo-arguments being served up to public opinion. All this noise, which starts with the latest reshuffle in the cabinet and clearly aims to seriously damage the reform of the ruling party, is the result of two main factors. First, the Albanian left, certainly represented above all by its main spokesmen, the social-communists, continues to defend the thesis that the democrats were created as a party because it was overthrown from power. By now, this thesis is widely known to public opinion as an expression of an old monist mentality and of a vulgar underestimation of the democratic processes the country is experiencing. Second, some former members of the PD, who in the years 1990-91 drew near our party not because of their deep democratic convictions, but for entirely different motives, now try to present themselves as theorists of democracy and as critics of the reforms being implemented. These individuals, who failed to understand that the PD is a party of democrats and not their personal apparatus, are today being used by left-wing propaganda to attack the government and the party leadership. In this sense, the recent decisions of the PD Presidency and the formation of the new cabinet should be seen as a logical continuation of the electoral promises and the program announced by the PD. The main goal has been and remains strengthening reforms, modernizing the state administration, fighting corruption, and increasing political responsibility. The new government cannot be a government of darkness and quarrels, as political opponents present it, but a government of responsibility and reform. Any attempt to portray this process differently is part of anti-reform propaganda. (Continued on page 3)

In the last parliamentary session, the head of the Socialist parliamentary group, Namon[?] Pëllumbi, tried to slander and distort the decision of the President of the Republic on the changes in government. Using irresponsible language, he called these moves a "crisis" and spoke of a cabinet of "darkness". But the truth is entirely different. The President of the Republic, acting in full accordance with the Constitution and his institutional responsibilities, carried out the necessary changes to strengthen the executive and give a new spirit to the reforms. To call this process a "crime" against the citizens' vote is not only political deceit, but also an insult to voters. Those who speak today about democracy are in fact seeking to preserve lost privileges and hinder the country's progress. Pëllumbi and his supporters cannot hide their political responsibility behind empty parliamentary phrases. (Continued on page 4)
