You have seen their ministers reburied from the graves where they had disappeared; those killed at the border have been identified; Bloody April 2 demands justice; the victims burned in Fushe-Arrez groan from their wounds and agonizing pain; the destruction, crimes and corruption have all been reported. Why do you not act?

In fact, in this stale expression, the only thing that is premature is their conclusion. It is clear that by pumping themselves up in this way, the PS leadership is trying to create a similar mindset among people, to give them the idea that it would not be surprising if the PS won, despite what it is. Although they know very well that the PS communists cannot come to power for at least another 10 years, the leaders of this party are exploiting and inventing all kinds of ways to artificially dismiss this reality. They have now openly declared their election campaign, although it is somewhat strange that they are already declaring this campaign a “victory.” PS leaders have entered this campaign without offering the Albanian people any alternative, simply shouting “Free Nano” and cursing and condemning every move of the democratic government. They continue to carry on their shoulders all the sins of the dictatorship, personified in one leader after another. In their latest statements, they have made it clear that they will not only change the democratic laws, but will also return to class warfare, certainly not in the form of ... They continue to pump themselves up. They use the result of November 6, which, even if it reflected their true share of the vote against the PD alone—with over 40% of the votes—and 17 other mixed parties, would leave the PS with only 52%. Now the masters of disinformation and deception in the PS have devised a so-called poll, which, naturally, will show the PS as the winner. A shadowy victory for a shadow government. Indeed, to make the poll seem credible, Ruçi pretends that the results are being processed. About the “Alia-Nano-Dokle-Ruçi-Benc” scandal

We have often heard from the PS leadership that a member of the PPSH could not have been an agent of the state security service under the dictatorship, because this was not included in the platform of the security organs. However, the case of party member and Marxism lecturer Servet Pellumbi refutes this thesis. He was involved in the arrest of one of his students at the Agricultural Institute. It was precisely during the Marxism lecture given by this “professor” that his student was put in handcuffs, after Servet Pellumbi denounced him publicly before the students as an “enemy of the class,” accusing him of carrying out hostile activity through his jokes. This fact, and another published in “RD,” where this professor, in 1991, in his role in the PS leadership, signed the obituary of a former sadistic security-service criminal, notorious for the inhuman torture of “class enemies,” published in “ZP,” clearly show that Servet Pellumbi, if he was not the chief executioner, was at least a willing and devoted collaborator of the state security service. That is why today he gets along so well with the security-service man and police officer Gramoz Ruçi in the PS leadership. Both the PS and Dokle, the protagonist in the disappearance of the 400 thousand dollars, are trying to let this matter pass in silence. They continue to remain silent, pretending that the 400-thousand-dollar scandal has been forgotten, even though at their meetings, members of the “PS” (indeed, called “spies” by Dokle—people planted by the PD) ask: What happened to the 400 thousand dollars? What happened to those sent to Canada? What is the truth? Dokle continues to present these “spies” with his alibis, repeatedly contradicting Pellumbi, who declared that the 250 thousand dollars not paid out in Canada were untouched in the bank, while Dokle confirmed that money from “ZP” had been taken from this fund. Later, SHKSH proved with documents that of the 250 thousand dollars, only 36 thousand remained in the bank, in the account of “ZP”—which shows that these dollars were never used for their intended purpose. These days, the FRPD Conference (Pukë branch) held its proceedings at the cultural palace in the city of Pukë. A great deal of preparatory work had been done in order to hold this conference, with the aim of organizing and reorganizing the structures of this forum as comprehensively as possible. The event was attended by members of the leadership and delegates of the youth forum from all the communes in the district, leaders of the PD in the district, representatives of the FGD, and others. Mr. Gjovalin Matia, one of the first leaders involved in establishing the FRPD in the district, spoke about the important role of this forum at the current political moment our country is going through. The young people of Pukë, he emphasized, made a major contribution to the great struggle waged by the PD to overthrow communism, and later to supporting the reforms and the program undertaken by the democratic government. Mr. Aleks Hajdari also confirmed the unreserved support of the young people of Pukë for the government and President Berisha. The report also described the greater support that the district branch of the PD should provide to the youth forum. Those present were greeted by the secretary of the PD branch, Halit Furriku. He stressed the great importance of the 1996 elections, because the return of the former communists, who today have donned the garb of democrats, would have serious consequences for Albanian democracy. The malicious and disinformative propaganda of the PS has only one aim: to seize power at any cost, even though this runs counter to the future and consolidation of democracy in Albania. Among other things, he suggested establishing and organizing the youth forum’s sections as effectively as possible. On behalf of the district FGD, Mrs. Barijo Selimi also delivered greetings. Many young people who spoke stressed that the people of Pukë, in those communes where the socialists won, are clearly seeing incompetence and corruption, as well as the undermining of the decisions and laws of the democratic state; therefore, the competent authorities should ... The conference elected the new FRPD leadership, consisting of 11 people. Mr. Mark Nikolli, a university graduate and director of the district road enterprise, was elected chairman. At the leadership of the PD branch in Korçë Commissioned by the PDSH leadership, Mr. Pjetër Arbnori held a working meeting these days with the leadership of the PD branch in the Korçë district. He was accompanied by a government team consisting of Messrs. Myslym Osmani, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food; Niko Glozheni, chairman of the AKP; Selim Belortaja, secretary for foreign relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Gjergji Konda, director of the Directorate for Economic Development, Coordination and Cooperation with Foreign Countries; and Ylli Panariti, adviser to the President of the Republic. At the beginning of the meeting with the leadership of the Korçë PD branch, Mr. Arbnori gave a brief overview of the political situation in the country, achievements to date, and prospects for the future. “We have entered the final year of our four-year term,” he said, among other things, “and we hope to implement the important points we promised on March 22 as well. Of course, we have had many problems; some things have not gone well, some we have been unable to do, and some of our own people have not wanted to do. But what we have accomplished is truly magnificent, and this is not a matter of being euphoric. We must look at things realistically and reflect the optimistic spirit of these three years. Over these three years, we gave the people freedom, but we also gave people the opportunity to benefit from this freedom and to be respected, in the face of a destructive opposition that has never wanted our country to progress. It is important that we do not always assume victory is assured. If we do not win the next elections, I assure you that the reform will remain unfinished. Do not pay attention to the demagogic propaganda of the PS and the articles in “ZP” saying that reform will continue; instead, look at what they say at their meetings and activities: that, once in power, the socialists will review all the laws passed by parliament.” (Continued on page 4)
