Implementation of reforms – implementation of the PD program

The social pact proposed by the President is utter nonsense and deception - Prime Minister Meksi, PDSH chairman Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, Minister Çuli, Blloja, Çupi, etc. took part Implementation of reforms – implementation of the PD program Korçë as an example of the role of the conscience of Albanian society The social pact proposed by the President is utter nonsense and deception – Prime Minister Meksi, PDSH chairman Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, Minister Çuli, Blloja, Çupi, etc. took part The promotion of the ideas of democracy and reforms is substantiating the transformations in Albania with facts. The body of arguments is clearly challenged by those who want to present a different reality. But the voters and citizens of Korçë have given a firm response to this propaganda and have supported the program of the Democratic Party. Together with the chairman of the PDSH, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, yesterday’s meeting in Korçë was also attended by Prime Minister Meksi, Minister Alfred Serreqi[?], Tritan Shehu[?], as well as PD candidates for deputy. In his speech, Mr. Berisha pointed out that in four years of reform Albania has changed radically, that the foundations of a market economy and the rule of law have been laid, and that the opposition is trying to obstruct this process with empty slogans. Referring to the Socialist opposition, he said that its proposals for a ‘social pact’ are nothing more than a new deception to hide the lack of a clear program. According to him, Albania needs the implementation of reforms, the safeguarding of property, the encouragement of investment and political stability. The meeting also emphasized Korçë’s role as a city with civic traditions and a special contribution to Albanian political life. Local PD leaders and representatives of the electorate also delivered greetings. The meeting took place in an enthusiastic atmosphere and ended with calls to support the PD program. They cover up the scandal with a fig leaf

They cover up the scandal with a fig leaf DURRES HATA The 400-million-dollar scandal of the Xhaferri firm, and statements by several people that Mr. Alia’s PS[?] had won 52% of the profits, has shaken politicians to the core. A media uproar that became even louder when the names of the people involved began to emerge. The promotion of the ideas of democracy and reforms is substantiating the transformations in Albania with facts. And in these circumstances, people tied to old schemes and narrow interests are trying to hide the truth. This scandal is seen as a sign of exhausted political morality. The Municipality of Durrës[?] has demanded the full clarification of the case, while citizens say that the noise of recent days is not enough. Concrete responsibility and legal action are being demanded. “Panic and quarrel” the voice of the PS[?] supported Doja Gashina[?] ...

What they tore down and killed, today they ask to be believed, their civic history

What they tore down and killed today they ask to be believed, their civic history Last Sunday, one of the newspapers close to multipartism, private property and human rights published a passionate piece. What a strange memory they seem to have. News. A former communist, once Minister of Industry, Belul Mesi, whom I rightly called in several recent articles the right man in the right post for the date of the class struggle, because he truly, as coordinator and guide of the entire campaign to destroy democracy and reform processes and the endless diversions against it, has been and remains in the right place for the date of the absurd order and headlong rush of Ramiz Alia, as one of those favored by him in the class struggle. He attacked me by presenting him, apparently, not as Minister of Industry, but as the head of one of the sectors of the ministry. And this, according to him, is the truth of political struggle. Now a sector head is apparently not a minister. But even if that were so, would that be the most important thing to discuss when speaking of those who brought the axe down on the economy, industry, democracy and pluralism? Clearly not. Because if a sector head received orders from above for the ruined plan, he was no less part of the destructive mechanism. His article tries to relativize responsibility and shift attention. But our people know very well who the people of the old system were and what they did against democratic freedoms. That publication also mentions the PS, which according to the author of the article appears as a reformed force, while the sons of the old fathers, with their yesterday’s and today’s propaganda, continue to try to create confusion. They have not repented for the damage caused, but seek to cover it up with theories, excuses and inventions. Instead of asking forgiveness for poverty, isolation and repression, today they present themselves as preachers of civil history. And that is the greatest irony. We cannot forget who closed the churches and mosques, who imprisoned and interned people, who kept the country cut off from Europe and the world, who destroyed private property and initiative. We cannot pretend not to know. Therefore, any attempt to remake political biographies is futile. History cannot be erased with occasional statements and accusations against opponents. It remains written in people’s lives.

Better an end with terror than a terror without end

Better an end with terror than a terror without end Gjimushi terrorized by Agapi Gjimushi[?], struck with a fist by several people near the television studio, has reported to the competent authorities an act of violence linked to his public positions. Such an event, according to the article, shows that old mindsets still survive and that there are attempts to intimidate independent voices. The article emphasizes that this case is not isolated, but part of a climate fed by the propaganda of hatred. Faced with this, a civic and institutional reaction is called for so that public debate does not turn into physical violence. (continued on page 10)

There are still people against the property-ownership process for Albanians

There are still people against the process of property-ownership for Albanians On the basis of the requests of the newly elected Parliament, the property-ownership reform is moving ahead according to plan, but there is still opposition from groups that want to preserve the privileges of the past. Sali Berisha, in a meeting with residents and local representatives, stressed that the PD is defending the interests of citizens and guaranteeing the return of property to its legitimate owners. According to him, the compensation and privatization process is difficult, but necessary in order to create a functioning economy and a fairer society. The opponents of reform, he said, are using propaganda to obstruct change. (continued on page 4)
