The unacceptable political conflicts, fueled by the old clique of bloc leaders and the varied social-communist elements, constitute a real threat to democracy in the country. The political climate has worsened and aims to slow down the pace of reforms. The decision to change the laws unilaterally and to undermine constitutional institutions is a serious threat to Albanian democracy. No one can place their own interests above the law and above the will of the citizens. The Democratic Party has been and remains determined to push forward democratic reforms, to guarantee free and fair elections, and to defend political pluralism. On this path, the responsibility of every democrat is great. We will continue to stand against any attempt at destabilization, against any effort to turn back the achievements of democracy.
