From every angle, the 400 thousand dollars are the object of a crime

The curtain of the “two-sided coin” and Harold Bernt In the markets of the mad name of “Western democracy,” the financier [?-] “fraternal” to wipe out the PPSH, all kinds of concocted stories and filthy tricks had begun to circulate. Thus this “story” about the 400 thousand dollars had already long ago found its way onto the front page of newspapers and into conversations. At this time, and even in earlier times, the opposition’s propaganda was eager for “facts,” “proof” and “documents” that would show that terrible unseen things were happening in Albania. This, although for many things it was completely clear that they were fabrications for political consumption. Our Albanian comrades have been more worried than calm when 400 thousand dollars have been mentioned. Often, trying to find the origin of this slander, they have recalled old emigration stories, propaganda games, and some fabrications coming from anti-Albanian circles. But still, nothing concrete has ever been brought forward except assumptions. So the only certain thing has remained: the 400 thousand dollars were used as a means to strike at the PPSH and later to feed the political vocabulary of its opponents. This degradation of a myth by the so-called “democratic opposition” goes so far that in this process not only is the connection with the facts lost, but also the most minimal rules of judgment. It is hard to understand how such a sum, mentioned without any document, without any bank name, without any transfer order, without any official paper, can be sold as absolute truth. And yet it has become such for a reader fed every day with alarm, panic, and insinuations. If this sum existed, then it requires investigation. If it did not exist, then we are dealing with a monstrous manipulation. In both cases, the conclusion is the same: the 400 thousand dollars are the object of a crime, either of an organized theft or of an organized slander. And in either case, someone must be held responsible. That is why this issue cannot be closed with smirks, conjectures, or sensational news brought by unnamed “sources.” It requires public clarification, transparency, and verification. Otherwise, we are simply dealing with one of those stories created to poison public opinion and distort the country’s political life. And while the name of Harold Bernt appears in the background as part of this misty curtain, that does not make the event any clearer. On the contrary, it places it even more in the sphere of a scenario carefully built to feed confusion. Here the curtain of the “two-sided coin” hides not only the unknown, but the purpose: political discrediting.

Albanian Enverism is directed by the fanatical leader of the PS

This insinuation that Enver’s fanatics should rise up against the Socialist leader is a delusion for the unstable public opinion. A dead end for the opposition’s governance. That is because it is not genuinely interested in the communist past, but in its selective use for political consumption. The shadow of Monday’s “Shqipëria e sotme,” especially its propagandistic style, is no different from the old model of directed journalism. Instead of offering arguments, it brings labels; instead of analyzing, it condemns. For this reason, it does not serve as a forum for debate, but as a loudspeaker for a political spirit that remains hostage to yesterday. In coming to terms with the past, Albanians need the truth, not the recitation of familiar clichés. Whoever supported the dictatorship yesterday does not automatically become a democrat simply by changing vocabulary. And even less can be proclaimed a purifier of society someone who keeps the same methods of thinking and the same tools of denigration. It is clear that this spirit serves the PS only insofar as it creates fog, raises smoke screens, confuses responsibilities, and keeps old divisions alive. In this sense, Albanian Enverism is not just a memory, but a political instrument. And its director is not some peripheral figure, but the very fanatical leader of the PS. (to be continued on page 2)

PD has told the truth about Gjinushi!

“Here is how PD suggested it...” begins its article, the newspaper “RD” writes. “PD” could address the opposition leader with another question: is it true that until 1989, the senior communist official Skënder Gjinushi was against pluralism? To this question, he has so far given no convincing answer. Likewise, is it true that in 1990 he tried to present himself as a reformer only when he saw that the system was collapsing? And is it true that later he became part of that political group which sought to profit from the transition while hiding the responsibilities of the past? If these questions are difficult for Mr. Gjinushi, that does not mean they are unfair. On the contrary. They are part of the truth that the public has the right to know. Therefore, when speaking of democracy, political biographies must also be spoken of. In this sense, PD not only has the right to ask, but also the duty to clarify. And if that bothers someone, so much the worse for him. The truth does not become slander simply because it is addressed to Gjinushi.
