From the joint press conference of the President of the Republic, Mr. Sali Berisha, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Mohamed At the conclusion of the official visit to Albania by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Mohamed, yesterday morning, in one of the halls of the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, Malaysian Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed, held a joint press conference. At the opening of the conference, President Berisha said: “I want to take this opportunity to thank from the bottom of my heart my friend and the friend of Albania, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Malaysia, Mr. Mohathir Bin Mohamed, for his second visit to Albania, which is a special contribution to the very good relations that exist between our two countries. I also want to thank Prime Minister Mohamed for the cooperation and friendship that he, his government and his country have shown Albania during this period. Political relations between our two countries are very good. Today, these relations extend into various fields beyond politics. During this period, our two countries have signed a series of agreements. They have identified fields of common interest for cooperation. We made a joint assessment of our cooperation and set out its prospects. As regards economic cooperation, I want to say that we look each other straight in the eye when identifying various fields of cooperation. We have no differences of opinion on political matters, whether regarding bilateral relations or our views on international problems, and particularly Bosnia. I wish to reaffirm our support for Albania on the Security Council. We hope to continue our dialogue on the withdrawal of UNPROFOR, which would have very serious consequences, not only for Bosnia, but would also greatly encourage Serbian aggression and the spread of the conflict. We also discussed other political issues. Malaysia is ready to support Albania in its plans to become a member of the Security Council. Besides the political sphere, the economic sphere has been one in which our relations have made progress. The Government of Malaysia and Prime Minister Mohamed granted Albania a loan for housing construction, bearing in mind Albania’s housing difficulties. They have also provided valuable technical assistance in construction. But the fields with strong potential for cooperation are tourism, the mining industry and the electronics industry. On this visit, Prime Minister Mohamed is accompanied by a group of prominent Malaysian entrepreneurs and businesspeople, who have used these days to identify fields of interest to them. I want to thank them for their visit and assure them that Albania is a small country with great opportunities for investors. In our discussions with Prime Minister Mohamed, the situation in the region occupied an important place. We are very concerned about the situation in Bosnia, which has become more dangerous following the latest statements by the International Community. My view is that discussed bilateral relations and our views on international problems, on various problems. On the issue of Bosnia, we again agree on the strategy for resolving this problem. When I return, I hope to encourage more Malaysians to come here and take advantage of the investment opportunities. We would also like to see more Albanians come to Malaysia to exchange views and experience and see how development is achieved in developing countries. The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohamed, and the President of the Republic, Mr. Sali Berisha, visited yesterday morning the site where construction of Tirana’s shopping centre will soon begin. This centre is planned to be built near the National Historical Museum. Its facilities will be of European-standard dimensions; it is the first of its kind to be built in our country. The official document for the Malaysian side was signed by the representative of the Malaysian investment company, Qaesin, while the Albanian side was represented by the Mayor of Tirana, Sali Kelmendi. Before leaving Albania, Dr Mahatir - Mohamed, accompanied by the President of the Republic, Sali Berisha, Prime Minister Meksi and other members of the Government, stopped at the Kamza turnoff, alongside the national road to Durrës. Here, an area of 16 hectares has been designated for the construction of a residential neighbourhood, which will include, in addition to a number of apartments—up to 1,000—open facilities such as a school, an administrative centre, a health centre, etc. Tirana’s urban planners consider this part of its outskirts to be the capital’s main axis of urban development in the future. The neighbourhood will be built with the participation of a loan granted by the Malaysian government, amounting to 20 million dollars, at an interest rate of 4 per cent.

You, Skender Gjinushi, who have a black mark against you and are appearing before Albanians again, can you tell them what your mission and your “kolli” would have been in wartime, when, according to the instructions of the State Security, entire Albanian families would have been made to disappear?

The left-wing press and its paid servants defend genocide These are the words of the former Interior Minister, now PS Secretary-General, when he was asked about the lists that were destroyed on his orders. He said the same words at the Shkodër trial, but today the victims have risen from their graves to testify, and the documents have come out of the archives to speak. Ruçi is responsible not only for destroying the lists but also for adding to them “new enemies.” Readers, we will soon prove again with documents who those people were whom Ruçi considered “enemies.” First, the open propagandist of genocide throughout 50 years, followed by the paid servants at “KJ,” “Populli Po” and “ZP,” and the others who today act at the discretion of the State Security noose, sprang into the desperate defence of the authors of half-century-old genocide, in accordance with orders. It is clear why “ZP” suddenly leapt into action when documents began to emerge that prove the crimes of its former and present leaders. As for the newspapers “KJ,” “Populli Po” and the others, readers must have understood that their self-discrediting was ordered. Their patrons ordered them to discredit themselves by finally coming out in defence of the dictatorship. The paid servants of “KJ” went so far as to call the former victims of the dictatorship and the intellectuals who rose up against genocide “lackeys of power,” forgetting that it was they who discredited themselves as their servants and feed the genocide against Albanians. Now everyone understands where all that “vicious hatred of the newspapers for Albanian democracy” comes from.
