Intellectuals and young people, the driving force behind victories

Debate The PD branch elected Mr. Sulejman Deliallisi, a respected figure, as chairman On behalf of the National Council of Pensioners based in Durrës, its vice-chairman Qemal Gjyzari is giving a speech about the past of the Puka PD branch and the problem that they are slandering and gossiping about the branch chairman, Mr. Deliallisi. Durrës, 6 July 1995. In yesterday’s meeting of the governing council of the Democratic Party, Puka branch, after discussions and a secret vote for Mr. Sulejman Deliallisi, he was elected chairman of this party branch. But as we hear through the press and certain television programs, they try to label him with the absurd terms that “the Puka PD branch chairman was elected by former perpetrators of genocide” or “the architects of bloodshed”. These fabrications, coming from irresponsible individuals or certain circles with malicious intent, are not only untrue but also harmful to the democratic spirit itself. Mr. Deliallisi is a respected figure, known for his fairness, dedication, and contribution to the democratic process. Those who today raise such accusations are blindly serving a language of division, which cannot replace honest political debate. Young people and intellectuals are the driving force behind victories, because they represent energy, critical thinking, and the ideals of an open society. The Albanian public continues to wander in fear. Deceived as it is, it remains torn. It is still standing between two roads. The number of changes is still not enough, but the road has not stopped. The Democratic Party has the duty to keep hope alive and not allow the voice of slander to replace the voice of the citizen. Today is the time for responsibility, not for mudslinging. Any attempt to link today’s processes with the terms of genocide is wrong and dangerous. Albania needs calm, understanding, and a political elite that speaks with arguments, not labels. For this reason, the election of Mr. Sulejman Deliallisi should be seen as a normal democratic act, as a sign of the political maturity of the membership and as a step forward in consolidating the PD structures. The burning of the dead oaks by Gramoz Ruçi, an unlawful act

The defense, as quickly as possible, is certain in his action for the burning of the “Oaks of Death” The month that has just passed was, for the region of Skrapar, the month of fire. The fire that broke out in the centuries-old forest in the place called “The Dead Oak,” part of a unique ecosystem and a natural monument, caused great ecological and economic damage. Many residents and specialists call this event a pure act of human irresponsibility. According to them, the order or incitement to burn the dried oaks was given by people connected to the local власти. At the center of the accusations is the name of Gramoz Ruçi. According to the complaints, his action or that of people linked to him had no legal basis and constituted a serious violation of environmental protection norms. The “Oaks of Death” are a symbol of an entire area and part of the collective memory of its residents. Their burning is not merely a forest loss, but a wound to the identity of the region. Residents are calling for a full investigation, punishment of those responsible, and the restoration of the law. They stress that no one, however powerful, can stand above the law. Raising the civic voice on this issue is a sign of public responsibility and of the need to stop arbitrariness. Continues on page 2

Those who insult businessmen do not know the ABCs of the market economy

From the activity of the PD in Skrapar The issue of the market economy and the role of entrepreneurs in the country’s development was addressed by leaders and representatives of the PD in Skrapar. In their analyses, it was underlined that private business is the foundation of the free economy and that insulting attacks on businessmen are, in essence, attacks on the economic reform itself. According to the speakers, whoever despises the entrepreneur or presents him as guilty for poverty does not even know the ABCs of the market economy. Wealth is created through work, investment, and risk, not through ideological insults. The representatives of the PD stressed that Albania’s transition requires not only legal reforms, but also a new civic culture, where free initiative is respected and private property is protected. They added that the country’s economic revival cannot come without support for the business sector and for the people who create jobs. In conclusion, they called for public debates to be freed from old prejudices and directed toward the modern standards of the market economy.

The shameful document The secrets were kept by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party on 14 July 1990

SHONOR HIZI ALIA, having and seeing in “revitalized form” in public opinion, and “we uncover” for example, with political propaganda that they are, we have had this weakened the road of populism and “dissolution”. This is also revealed by Palok Duda’s article “but why later do we ask, in vain, and not do it”. And the emphasis is placed on “the regime, enough”. “Why didn’t you take credit? but who did not have to carry it out. Not now they caught it and with it? but debt with interest. We as a party have had value, we must admit that there is a moral defect from the great demands on banking capital and the PD”... Read on page 5

Mitoti, a writer, the base of the PS

Aronit praises that PS is forming the “front”. Proudly, we “recall” that this well-known figure of the communist revolution and of the “sentences” has written and published a series of poems extolling the “work” of the dictatorship. In one of his writings, he spares no attacks against political opponents, portraying them as enemies of the people. This language belongs to the past and does not serve democracy. ATSH
