PS - enthusiastic crisis of lost “victories”
Dr. Ilir XHEJI
The newspaper, as an indicator of a kind of self-assessment, shows that the PS is directing its campaign against a collective “culprit,” namely yesterday’s government, and not against an alternative government. This is evident in the way it treats its electoral losses and in the tendency to produce artificial euphoria.
Instead of reading the figures and the signals from the electorate seriously, the PS presents defeats that in reality mark contraction as “moral victories.” This crisis is also a crisis of identity, because it wavers between nostalgia for the past and the desire to present itself as a new force. [?

The effort to build the image of a modern opposition is hindered by the return of old figures, by old language, and by the lack of a clear project. For this reason, the declared enthusiasm for the lost “victories” remains more propaganda than real political analysis.

Despite the phenomenon declared by PS-99 about its “crisis,” the tone, and also the 65% of the vote that the Albanian electorate gave on 22 March 1992 to the right-wing force, change will not come from a newly invented party. Nor will the perversity of its organization solve this, because what is happening is what was long ago warned about. In this natural but relatively accelerated conclusion of the polarization process, Albania will gain more from a strong opposition party than from a crippled and degraded PSH. [?

The return to narrower, more controlled circles shows the electorate not only how powerless the pluralist left is to break away from the past, but also implies not a little that the only condition for its survival is the removal of the figures who embody more associations with the old government. In the meeting of the Presidency of the PD Branch in Maliq, issues of daily work and organization were discussed. At the center of the discussion was work with the people, strengthening the structures, and individual responsibility in carrying out the tasks.
The destructiveness of the PS as a reflection of the former State Security
It is becoming clear that the PS is now making other efforts to get out of the crisis it is in. Instead of political reflection, it is feeding sterile debates and bringing back old mentalities. In this sense, its destructiveness appears as a continuation of the logic of the former State Security, where the political opponent was seen not as an alternative but as an enemy.
This spirit is noticeable in the language, in the accusations, and in the way its public activity is organized. Instead of presenting a program, it seeks to create alibis for its own failures. [?

Democrats have their own party
The former associate of the State Security and the nostalgic supporter of the communist regime, already condemned as such by the Genocide Commission, Fatos Nano, through the four small left-wing forces he has created, tried to frighten the democratic community by saying that he “will create an opposition capable of overthrowing the government.”
Naturally, these are his foolish notions at a time when the whole civilized world is turning its eyes toward Albania. As has often been stated by the PD and by its leaders, the democrats have their own party, the opposition has its place, and no one can replace the free will of the Albanian citizens.
