The successful progress of the reform made wage increases possible

Prime Minister Aleksander Meksi and PDSH Secretary General Prof. Tritan Shehu speak to "RD" Shkimi of Production Shtal MUNSE- The types of wages in our country today are even comparable to those of various very small countries. The most natural way of reward, based on skill and work experience, should be mentioned as such, while wages and pensions are at peace. Noe i fundit in RD-së. He stressed that this wage increase is the direct result of improved macroeconomic indicators and fiscal discipline. In the same vein spoke the PDSH Secretary General Prof. Tritan Shehu, who considered this development clear proof that the reform path is the right one and that its results are being felt gradually by citizens. Repeated NATO strikes against Bosnian Serb positions

NATO spokesman Ashton: the bombings among the most important in its entire history Yesterday's NATO attack against the Serb forces in Bosnia, in response to the bombing of the Sarajevo market, represents the first broad and sustained strike with such force against the Bosnian Serbs, and truly marks a new chapter in the Alliance's military action. The operation lasted 12 hours, during which radar sites, surface-to-air missiles and command and communications centers were targeted. The attack involved NATO fighter aircraft, which carried out the strikes after the failure of a 6:00 GMT deadline for the removal of heavy Serb weapons from the Sarajevo safety zone. NATO operations director, Italian General Augusto Del Boca, said that NATO aircraft were ordered to begin the bombing even in poor weather conditions. Yesterday's mission was an open attack against a network of Bosnian Serb anti-aircraft defenses, which will reduce the risk to NATO aircraft. British, French and American bombers were put into action against Bosnian Serb weapons as well as command centers, infrastructure and the army's ammunition, weapons and fuel depots. In a statement issued from NATO air bases in Italy and from the aircraft carriers in the Adriatic Sea, it was said that airstrikes against the Serbs in Bosnia are an ongoing action until further notice. NATO's actions against the Bosnian Serbs came after 48 hours of diplomatic talks that have been going on nonstop since the latest massacre of 37 civilians in Sarajevo. NATO spokesman Jamie Shea said that yesterday's strikes were much larger than last year's operation to destroy the Serb anti-aircraft missile battery in the Sarajevo area. This was the first time the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance had ordered air strikes against targets without United Nations authorization and without a time limit. NATO airstrikes were supported by 15 French, British and Dutch aircraft. Seven French Jaguar planes took part in missile strikes against Serbian radar systems. A squadron of eight Jaguar bombers and Harrier vertical takeoff aircraft bombed Serb positions. According to initial reports from Aviano, two British Jaguar aircraft and two Dutch F-16s carried out attacks on the targets with laser-guided bombs. Another 25 French, British and Dutch fighter aircraft remained on alert at the air base in Italy to carry out second strikes. Meanwhile, alliance military officials said that to take part in the second wave of bombing, NATO had sent the aircraft carrier "Theodore Roosevelt" to the Adriatic. AP

President Berisha greets NATO strike against Bosnian Serbs

President Berisha today praised the firm measures that NATO is taking against the Bosnian Serbs and said that its action against Serb military targets is generally justified because this move may serve as a serious warning against aggression and ethnic cleansing. President Berisha considers NATO's action against Serb positions in Bosnia necessary, and sees it as a logical continuation of the earlier operations carried out against heavy weapons around Sarajevo and of the efforts of international diplomats to stop the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. In a written statement, Mr. Berisha emphasizes that NATO's military action, carried out in support of UN Security Council resolutions, was also a response to the repeated crimes of the Bosnian Serbs, who continue to defy peace, security and the work of the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to Mr. Berisha, the massacre in the Sarajevo market, where 37 people were killed and more than 80 others injured by Serb shelling, was the direct cause that led to these airstrikes. "NATO's attack on Bosnian Serb positions is a justified response to the flagrant violations of international agreements and UN Security Council resolutions," states President Berisha's declaration. According to this statement, President Berisha considers NATO's military intervention an expression of determination to put an end to the policy of ethnic cleansing, the siege of free cities, bombardments against civilian targets and the causing of serious human tragedies. President Berisha drew the attention of world opinion to the destabilizing character of the Bosnian Serb actions, which are threatening not only peace and security in the region, but also the effectiveness of the United Nations peacekeeping mission. Describing the Atlantic Alliance's intervention as a strong warning for peace, President Berisha expressed the hope that it will serve as an incentive for a peaceful solution to the crisis, the halting of attacks against the civilian population, and the creation of conditions for restoring stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Call for fratricide

The truth about M. Zeqo's duty. These days, Socialist MP Mokon Zeqo has come out with a declaration in which he appeals for "peace, freedom and democracy, but also with weapons in hand." The bitter irony of this statement is that its author was one of the protagonists of the weapons affair in Albania. Our note in this case concerns the well-known irresponsibility of a politician who, instead of calming public opinion, pushes society toward confrontation. In a country that is just emerging from the wounds of a dictatorship, such appeals are not only dangerous, but also politically and morally unacceptable. Mokon Zeqo and his supporters try to create the idea of an armed resistance against institutions elected through the ballot box. Such a thing can only be described as an invitation to civil clash. Albania needs responsibility, strong institutions and dialogue, not the language of violence. Any incitement to arms, to the streets and to rebellion must be condemned without equivocation. Our article is not against political debate; on the contrary, debate is the foundation of democracy. But when words cross the line of responsibility and turn into an implied call for violence, then they become a threat to democratic order. If this rhetoric is met with silence today, tomorrow it may be too late. Albanian history knows many episodes in which political immaturity has brought serious national consequences. SHPENDI HAKLAJSE We do not know whether we have managed to decrypt, to a satisfactory extent and with an accurate analogy, the message of Mr. Moikom Zeqo, former Minister of Culture in the Socialist government, expressed with the new slogan "freedom and democracy, but also with weapons in hand", or the other words distributed together with it, in such a context: "The agenda of this government is free market, private property and anti-communism," etc. AP SHPENDI HAKLAJSE The deputy chairman of the PD National Council and chairman of the Democratic parliamentary group described yesterday's statement by M. Zeqo as "the note on which the Albanian future is being violated and the urgent need has come for intervention to establish and respect human freedom in this country."

The confinement of innocent people in a state of arrest proves Judge Brozi's participation in communist genocide

It is irresponsible and isolated in its sound condemns confinement with people in a state of practical destruction of the scientific naming of human momentum denounces with flogging and propaganda. A black figure with a certain rank in the old structure of the Court of Cassation, Mr. Brozi, involved since 28 February 1994, who is rightly accused of having been one of the officials of the Court of Cassation in 1989 and 1991, charged with the confinement in a state of innocence of many Albanian citizens, including well-known people and intellectuals, still continues to represent a symbol of the irresponsibility of the justice system of the dictatorship era. The accusation of his participation in communist genocide is raised from the fact that he signed or supported decisions that led to unjust sentences, imprisonment and the destruction of lives for political reasons. His figure is presented here satirically in order to emphasize the moral and public importance of the responsibility that former officials of the communist system must bear. (Continues on page 2)
