Yesterday’s Nazokon[?] receives special recognition from the MEPs of the European parliamentary group of the right. Signed by the chairman of the European parliamentary group and the chairman of the parliamentary group of the European right, former Foreign Minister of Portugal, Jose Manuel Durrao Barroso, the article deals with the truths of emerging from the crisis. After a clear overview of the situation in Albania, the right-wing European MEPs point out very clearly that “It is the current Albanian government that is sunk up to its neck in corruption, which mafia figures are exploiting.” Furthermore, the MEPs note that “It should be emphasized that instead of fighting corruption, the main concern of the current government is to build a network of clientelism and a wealthy class with illegal incomes.”
The Democrats back in the square for Arbnori
The democratic leader, Sali Berisha, yesterday morning took part in the protest rally held in the center of the capital and organized by FRESH for the release of former Speaker of Parliament, Pjetër Arbnori. After the rally ended, Berisha, when asked by journalists, expressed his conviction that “Pjetër Arbnori will be released and justice will be done. We must be able with dignity to confront those who are capable of arresting our deputies and the opposition leader.” In his speech at the gathering, the chairman of FRESH accused Prime Minister Nano and the socialists of “moving farther and farther away from Europe day by day in order to move closer to the East.”

The Democrats back in the square for Arbnori
Declaring a state of emergency for a 6-month period in agreement with the Constitutional Court is presented as an unacceptable political and procedural act. This statement, signed by the political secretary of the PPD, Fatmir Mediu, was made public yesterday through a press release. The statement says that “The declaration of such a state seriously undermines the principles of the rule of law, restricts human rights and freedoms, and institutionalizes political repression.” Mediu also said that today’s government has deliberately avoided the necessary consensus with the country’s political forces and institutions. According to the PPD statement, the current government is trying to rule through crisis rather than govern. “Through an extended state of emergency, the government seeks to legitimize its political failure and its lack of will to build the state,” the statement concludes.
The media on the road of Avdisë[?]
Another harsh reaction came yesterday from the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party regarding the violence used against the “Koha Jonë” journalist Aleksandër Frangaj. The statement says that “the continuous pressure and violent acts against independent media clearly show the authoritarian face of today’s power.” According to the democrats, this act constitutes a direct threat to press freedom and the public’s right to information. The statement calls on the authorities to immediately clarify the incident and punish those responsible.
