Instead of unequivocally supporting the fight against smuggling, he tries to protect certain segments of it and strike at those investigating it. This behavior by the head of government comes at a time when public opinion is demanding clarity, transparency, and accountability regarding possible links between high-ranking officials and smuggling networks. Attacks on the Prosecutor’s Office and the silent defense of officials with immunity do nothing but increase suspicion and undermine trust in the state.
