Why are Azem Hajdari’s killers not being arrested?

In the days that have passed since Azem Hajdari was killed, the question has been raised: Why have his killers not been arrested and brought before justice? The unavoidable answer is that the government of Fatos Nano, the police leadership, and the public order structures have not only failed to pursue the investigation seriously, but have created the political and institutional climate for the perpetrators to go unpunished. This suspicion is fed by the way the case has been handled, by contradictory statements, and by the fact that the perpetrators remain free. Public opinion expects accountability, not silence. This issue is not only criminal, but also political and moral for the Albanian state.
