Mid’hat Kryeziu and Pali Delishi denounce: Protests across the country in support of the hunger strikers’ demands While in front of the parliament building and the state security offices policemen and government mercenaries have been rushing against the citizens of Shkodër, a few meters farther on, in front of the city gate, many citizens of this city, outraged by what is happening, have gathered in a peaceful protest. After 6 days of hunger strike in the premises of the Institute of the former politically persecuted in Shkodër, the government’s armed police, in a macabre act, has intervened by force, dispersing the protesters violently and exerting pressure on the organizers. This action has inflamed the anger of the people of Shkodër and created a severe political situation. In a press statement, the democratic deputies Mid’hat Kryeziu and Pali Delishi denounced that the perpetrators of the violence are the political and police structures linked to power. They stressed that they have enough facts to prove that everything has been organized in advance to terrorize the city and frighten the opposition. According to them, the government is using repressive methods similar to those of the dictatorship, while in Shkodër a planned scenario is being tested to provoke civil clashes. The deputies have called on citizens to remain calm, but at the same time to come out in democratic protests in support of the hunger strikers and their demands. They declared that the people of Shkodër will not bow before violence and that the right to protest cannot be violated by police, special forces, and political orders. The immediate release of those detained and punishment of those responsible was also demanded. Photo: Mid’hat Kryeziu and Pali Delishi during a meeting.
