Ambush for Azem Hajdari

At 16:20, large police forces and armed gangs, accompanied by Deputy Interior Minister Pellumb Nako, set up an ambush on the Laç-Milot road after the Democratic deputy was returning from attending his brother’s funeral. News of the roadblock and police ambushes had reached Deputy Hajdari since yesterday morning. After firing indiscriminately at the car in which Azem Hajdari was traveling and the one escorting him, the police, supported by armed gangs, withdrew to Fushë-Krujë. At the same time in Lezhë, in front of the prefecture, police had since the early hours of the morning blocked all roads leading to this institution where a meeting with the party structures was to take place. Three police checkpoints were set up in Lezhë. At the entrance checkpoint before Lezhë, set up with armored cars and armored personnel carriers, deputies and PD chairmen from the districts, as well as dozens of participants in the meeting that was to be organized in Lezhë, were blocked. Meanwhile, the third checkpoint, set up in front of the Lezhë prefecture, was blocked by numerous police forces and armed gangs that checked documents and blocked movement. Many of the meeting participants were detained for several hours. According to information received last night, the blocking of Hajdari and the opposition leaders was ordered by Deputy Interior Minister Pellumb Nako.
