The savings of Albanians are burning

The scandal. Deposits are blocked in banks. Citizens cannot withdraw their money After the drastic devaluation of the lek, the shameless attempts by the Bank to stop the collapse of the local currency and the movement of fake dollars on the currency market, the turn has come for the plundering of Albanians' savings Thousands of people from Kavaja commemorate 26 March Nano, a cold shower in the Bundestag Sismuth: Stop smuggling To avoid the confiscation of savings in large denominations, bankers advise scanning the banknotes The President of the German Bundestag has asked the Albanian prime minister to decisively stop all forms of smuggling and to take care that this problem follows peaceful paths. Prime Minister Nano has told the media that Sali Berisha and the SHIK are organizing a military coup. This is a proven lie in all the cases of staging scenarios, such as the weapons-control one. Berisha told journalists yesterday that Albanians expect to be governed by the free vote of the people and not by a socialist government installed through vote theft and violence against the opposition. Also, only a part of the savings near the withdrawal limit from the bank could be withdrawn, despite their insistence, by the citizens of Kavaja. Rejecting the withdrawal of these measures, they declared that their wages and deposits are the fruit of the sweat of their labor and that they will not allow them to be confiscated in this way. They stated that most of the savings were not returned; instead, bankers advised them to convert them into lower-value banknotes. The ban on withdrawing large-denomination sums is closely linked to fake dollars on the market, where, according to some citizens, second-tier banks and the National Commercial Bank are throwing these dollars into circulation. Before the meeting with the head of the German Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse, Prime Minister Nano declared that smuggling cannot develop without the knowledge of the Albanian government, without the knowledge of the SHIK and of the entire police structure, and without bribing all customs officers. Asked whether there is evidence for this, he asked to be questioned the head of the SHIK, Bashkim Gazidede, and the former director of police in Tirana, Agim Shehu. Nevertheless, the German did not insult the opposition, as the entire left-wing press tries to interpret it. He stated that smuggling must be stopped and that this is in the interest of Albania and the Balkans. Government media have published manipulated photos showing Nano accompanied at a meeting in Durrës by a German Bundestag diplomat. In fact, yesterday in Tirana he met the Bundestag delegation led by the President of the German Bundestag, to whom he presented the same failed attempts by the State Bank to stop the free fall of the lek and the trafficking of fake dollars. Nano in Bonn against the Albanians

Mehdiu: The aim is to install the next quisling at the head of Kosovo Yesterday's action by the murderous Serbian police, accompanied by unprecedented terror against the population of Kosovo, has not been able to shake the Albanians of this region in their efforts to liberate the ancestral lands and establish order and peace. The deputy speaker of the Albanian Parliament and chairman of the National Unity Party, Mr. Idajet Beqiri, sent a letter yesterday to the prime minister, Fatos Nano. In this letter, Mr. Beqiri considers the statement made in Bonn with the Chancellor of Germany Helmut Kohl to be a scandal and a national betrayal. Salih Kabashi, commenting on Fatos Nano's statement to the foreign media, in which he says that the Albanians of Kosovo are for substantial autonomy and not for independence, said: "The aim of the murderous Serbian police is to install the next quisling at the head of Kosovo and, as it seems, with Nano's neo-colonial acceptance it has taken a big step in that direction. If, according to his wish, resistance must be turned from armed resistance into peaceful active resistance of the Gandhi type, this shows that he still lives in the lost years 1992-1996". Mr. Beqiri judged that yesterday's statement by the German Chancellor is irrefutable proof that Albanian diplomacy is bankrupt and has erased the perspective of our just struggle. Today the left-wing European foreign governments have turned their backs and are actively helping their return into a second Bosnia. In a statement yesterday, Mr. Idajet Beqiri denounced Fatos Nano's irresponsible conduct toward the Albanian national cause. He demands that the Albanian government openly declare itself for the independence of Kosovo. (The article continues on page 4) Salih Kabashi

Weakness and anarchy dominate the left-wing government

Berisha comments on the results of the Contact Group meeting Also, only a part of the savings near the withdrawal limit from the bank could be withdrawn, despite their insistence, by the citizens of Kavaja. Rejecting the withdrawal of these measures, they declared that their wages and deposits are the fruit of the sweat of their labor and that they will not allow them to be confiscated in this way. Mr. Berisha said at the beginning that the decree by Vuani[t?], the defender of Nano's cause in the Council of Europe and in the Contact Group, is an absurd circular, lower than an ultimatum presented to a people by the police of a totalitarian state. Berisha said that it fully represents the spirit of dragging things out, of denying the Albanian national question, of the strong blocking of Albanians. Regarding the Contact Group's request for reform in the Kosovo government, Berisha said that Fatos Nano only hopes for the Albanian diktat, recommending that he not listen to such a circular. He called on the Nano government to take these developments seriously and to support without reservation and by every means the liberation struggle of the Albanians of Kosovo. Condemning the massacres and Serbian barbarity, the PD chairman called the statement by the German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, on the Kosovo issue unacceptable. In his view, the German Chancellor cannot pretend not to know about the Serbian genocide against an entire population. Berisha called on the Albanians of Kosovo not to be deceived by any statement that aims to disarm them politically and morally.
