Nano’s road equals 120 pensioners
Government officials’ salaries sky-high, the lek lower and lower
Nano’s road equals 120 pensioners
The Deputy Prime Minister earns as much as 103 pensioners together; a minister is paid as much as 78 elderly people, while a deputy minister as much as 74 of them
The coalition government keeps the work in its pocket to pull even more from Albanians’ pockets, while it brings money out for its own appointees in government. Now the Governor of the Bank of Albania earns almost as much as the Deputy Prime Minister. Prime Minister Fino, over 2 so-called [?], for the benefit of Albanians and the directors of the “inclusive all” [?], has been set to receive 100,000 lek a month, not including the many allowances and other expenses for himself and his family, which he is not accounting to anyone for. But let us say that the government, greedy for revenue, is behaving in a certain way when it comes to these officials.
Very high pay for cabinet ministers, committee heads, deputy prime ministers, the Speaker of the Assembly, and so on. This road has also been joined by the leaders of the “inclusive all” [?], who start from over 90,000 lek up to 100,000. This situation is not only unfair to pensioners and vulnerable groups, but also a slap in the face to all Albanians who are dealing with the government’s back-and-forth moves.
The Governor and the directors longer on the road [?]
This decision is another scandal of the most recently staged greedy government. Having come to power illegally, without the approval of the President and the Electoral College, Fatos Nano climbed into the prime minister’s chair with the votes of his own people and the pressure of the police. Today he is paid hundreds of times more than those who survive on ridiculous pensions.
Government officials travel in supercars, tour Europe with budget funds, and indulge in the luxury of eating and drinking with the people’s money, while the Albanian pensioner lives on less than 8,000 lek. PDS firmly demands that the government end these privileges and establish equal standards. In a serious state, there cannot be such a huge gap between the government official and the ordinary citizen.

2 April 1991 - 2 April 1998
2 April belongs to the Albanian sovereign
This second date of historical significance, after 20 February, which sealed the collapse of a 47-year bloody dictatorship, was 2 April. The third day of the victory of political pluralism, it marked the first blood shed by the murderous hand of the heirs of the dictatorship in Shkodër. On 2 April, 4 young people were killed and 97 were wounded. The killing of 2 April would shake the entire country and become a sign of profound political change.
In the memory of the Albanian people, 2 April has remained as the day of the martyrs of democracy and of civic resistance against the return of violence. Today, on the seventh anniversary, this date remains an appeal for justice and remembrance.
