Nano tramples on the PS
The main accusations of Fatos Nano: "The PS had mafia clans, a party of Poni Taliçevës, a party of customs officers, a party of politicians from the banana republic, a party of conspirators, a party of revanchists and power failures, a party of primitive and vulgar interests, a party of internal deals, a party of flagrant and masculine interests, a party of cruel games above and of the disenfranchised, a party of the speechless but made into a century"

Nano or the history of political weakness in Albania
Fatos Nano's resignation from the post of chairman of the Socialist Party has been received with relief by almost all circles of Albanian politics. In this final part of his political career, no one could imagine the strongman of the left as prime minister, as he was at the beginning of the left's government mandate. This is also why in the Socialist Party, where he once ruled unquestioned, only a small part of his people still remain loyal to him. The moment of his departure from the post of chairman of the Socialist Party is not unrelated to the general situation in the country created after recent events. Especially since the catastrophe in the north of the country and the insecurity created in Albania are directly threatening the future of the left's power.
Even during the last period of his tenure as prime minister, Fatos Nano ignored unpleasant news, but he no longer had the chance to ignore reality. The party was increasingly worried by the worsening situation in the country, while discontent among the left-wing electorate was growing. Under these circumstances, his resignation from the post of chairman of the PS, although delivered in harsh language against his opponents, was essentially an admission of political defeat.
In his resignation speech, Nano described the Socialist Party as a party captured by various clans and primitive interests. He spoke of customs officers, conspirators, revanchists and failures of power. These are words that show not only his personal crisis, but also the deep crisis of the Albanian left. By portraying the party he himself led for eight years as a community of interests and not as a political force with ideals, Nano in fact leveled the gravest accusation at himself.
In truth, his departure cannot be explained only by the internal struggle within the PS. It is also linked to the failure of his political project and the inability to govern a country as troubled as Albania in 1998-1999. For months his government faced insecure order, the malfunction of institutions and a crisis of public trust. Instead of offering clarity and stability, it produced chaos and confusion.
Therefore, his resignation is a belated but inevitable act. It does not close the crisis of the Socialist Party, but only makes it more visible. Now the socialists must face the consequences of an era dominated by the personality of Fatos Nano and seek another path to survive politically.

Yesterday's words of the opposition do not decode future electoral and political surprises. At least from his political deciphering they bring to mind the idea of coming down from destiny, his politics.
