Historical Yugoslavia Instead of a peaceful and just solution to the Kosovo issue and the avoidance of war in the Balkans, the real aim of Rambouillet was the preservation of the status quo and the international legalization of Serbian occupation. It was not only about the denied independence of the Albanians of Kosovo, but about the future of all Albanian peoples in the Balkans. The foundations of this project lie in the earlier Pan-Slavist platform and in the doctrine of historical Yugoslavia. The talks in Rambouillet, from this point of view, aimed to impose a unilateral solution, without recognizing the right of self-determination of the Albanian majority in Kosovo.
