The government’s cold walls
How strange these communists are, how they hate? It is not known whether they hate because they are afraid or are afraid because they hate. One must think about this, why it is so strong and why they are so unrestrained. If in these days, amid opinions regarding SHIK, intermediaries, failures and the games of a government — or why a government within a government — that is showing that at any moment the nation will be lost, then one must worry not only about the fate of Fatos Klosi and the journalists, but even more about the nature of a power that raises high and cold walls between itself and the citizens.
These walls are seen not only in the way the doors of communication with the media are closed, but also in the language used, in the commanded silence, in the replacement of responsibility with arrogance. The prime minister, the ministers, the security structures — all seem to imagine the state as a party possession and the citizen as an obstacle. This makes the crisis of mistrust even more serious.
Instead of giving explanations, they build alibis. Instead of accepting public scrutiny, they hide behind vague statements. Instead of calming public opinion, they feed new suspicions. And so the government rises like a cold wall in front of society.
A government that does not accept questions, that fears the light of the media, that turns away from dialogue with the opposition and turns SHIK into an object of political bargaining, cannot ask for trust. It demands submission.
Today, more than ever, Albania needs institutions that are accountable, not cold walls that conceal the crisis.
