. The Albanian nation is experiencing the darkest days in its entire existence. The medieval Serbian hordes, with the most vicious words on their lips, have set upon the Albanians of Kosovo, killing, slaughtering and burning, just as they have managed to oppress their territories in Albanian lands over the last nine hundred years. Today Albanians are at the most important point in their resistance. Either they will survive, or they will be wiped out by the people of the steppes, the barbarians and terrorists of Millosheviçi. More than one hundred thousand people expelled from all over Kosovo are now in Albania, or at its northern borders. Thousands more have been forcibly displaced and sent to Macedonia, Montenegro, Turkey, etc. Ethnic cleansing, the greatest that has ... taken place in the Balkans, knows no bounds. Thousands of people have been killed on the roads of Kosovo’s villages and cities, burned in their homes; thousands more have been beaten and raped, while a large number have disappeared and nothing is known about their fate. They burned the building of the League of Prizren and hundreds of other monuments of Albanian civilization and culture. The genocide that has begun in Kosovo constitutes one of the greatest crimes against humanity. It surpasses every limit and even the imagination of the most depraved minds on our planet. The chief bandit is killing children and the elderly; he wants to kill all Albanians. Now is the time of the Albanians, and therefore the time of civilization, resistance, peace and courage. This is not the time of barbarians, oppressors, invaders, or the destroyers of people and civilization. But we Albanians have the right only to exact punishment. We are in a reckoning with the most barbaric people on the planet. This is our fate in history, and we must face it. For centuries we have had to wait for all the people of the East, stop them, defeat them, and punish them for their barbarities. We must do so now as well. NATO’s attacks sought to stop the ethnic cleansing of Albanians, which Millosheviçi had begun ten years earlier. But the wounded beast is lashing out even more fiercely. We have faith in Europe and the USA, but just as much faith must be placed in ourselves. We must have faith to the very end. We must not wait for [unclear] to reject barbarity. We must reject barbarity now, once and for all; otherwise our struggle will be long. Thousands of arrivals from Kosovo have shown the world their tragedy too, the massacre they have endured, the genocide that drove them toward the borders, hoping to find a place in a developed country. Albanians have shown the massacre even to those who, in the name of ideology, have joined the perpetrators. To those who stand at rallies to defend terrorism, who declare in Europe’s political salons that there is peace, we say: look, where the blood of thousands of murdered Albanians flows, and of hundreds of thousands driven from their lands, killed and of hundreds of thousands expelled from their lands, killed and expelled to Kukës, Shkodër, Tiranë, Shkup, Tetovë and Gjirokastër. The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting yesterday at midday with the US Ambassador in Tirana, Mariza Lino.
