Greece expels Albanians and opens its doors to Serbs

“The behavior of the plainclothes policemen who arrested me at work, using violence, - says Agim Musga from Gostivar in Bulgaria, - was torture. They handcuffed me, throwing me to the ground as if I were a sack. And then they threw me in and locked me up so that I would hand over the money I had earned over several months. But they did not let me. They did not put you in; it came by law and overalls” [?] Albanian emigrants respond to Greek policy From NEZA “It is categorically forbidden to exploit Serbian refugees and to direct any of them to other countries. This means that the Greek state will take care of their accommodation. Any violation of this order will be considered an attack on the interests of the country. Sanctions against violators will be severe.” This order from the Greek government has been made known in many prefectures also to citizens through local radio stations, which also make patriotic appeals. This is the case in the prefecture of Kozani, where around 10,000 Serbian refugees are located, with Corinth, where 3,500 Serbs have been sheltered, and with Athens, where by last night there were 1,800 in hotels and stadiums, etc. But a different approach is taken with Albanians. Dozens of cases confirmed by the newspaper “RD” clearly testify to the Greek police action for the mass expulsion of Albanians by force. Senior officials from Public Order Minister Tsitsofollos, the head of police in Thessaloniki, Pashalis, the heads of police in Veria, Ioannina and other Greek prefectures, have personally engaged in a massive revenge against legal Albanian emigrants. This practice began at the start of this week, with the arrest of hundreds of Albanians in the streets, in bars and even at their workplaces. After arrest, Albanians are held day and night in police stations, stadiums, bars and various centers until a sufficient number is secured to repatriate them by ferries and other means to Albania. After that, departure does not take long. And upon arrival at the border points of Kakavijë, Kapshticë, Qafë Bota, etc., those who disembark are thrown out by the Greek police without being allowed to take even their personal belongings, often leaving them separated from their families, with no possibility of return. But they did not let me. As you can see, I came with my clothes on.”

The British government suppresses Azem Hajdari’s hope

Today, 297 days since the murder of the leader of December, the British government yesterday once again decided not to open an investigation and not to be involved in clarifying and punishing the perpetrators of the murder of Azem Hajdari, which took place on 12 September 1998. Also unexplained remains the fact that the Director General of Scotland Yard, the person put in charge of the investigation to shed light on the century’s assassination attempt against the life of Azem Hajdari, Sir David Venes, retired only two weeks after arriving in Albania. At least this is how the silence of the man who in all his public speeches called the murder of Azem Hajdari a catastrophe can be explained.” The British government once again decided yesterday not to open an investigation and not to be involved in clarifying and punishing the perpetrators of the murder of Azem Hajdari, which took place on 12 September 1998.
