EDITORIAL Astrit PATOZI The arms trafficking from Albania to Kosovo is still continuing, although the war there ended several months ago. This assessment comes from one of Europe’s most important chanceries, which officially warned the Tirana government to put an end to the arms trade on the other side of the border. The letter sent the day before yesterday by British Prime Minister Toni Bler to Prime Minister Majko speaks of the growing alarm caused in the West by the Albania-Kosovo ammunition corridor. But what lies behind this harsh message, and why has the West decided to block a phenomenon that has taken place almost legally for a period of around two years precisely now? Against this backdrop of ultimatums to official Tirana, it cannot go unnoticed that Bler’s harsh tone coincides with the return of the Majko-Meidani disputes over whether or not to dismiss SHIK chief Fatos Klosi on page 3

Today, 335 days since the murder of the December Leader Every day that passes since the murder of Azem Hajdari, the symbol of democracy and pluralism, proves the involvement of Fatos Nano’s government and that of his successor in the crime that shook the entire Albanian world. The governments of the former communists, which have left free and unpunished the criminals who took the life of the December Leader, show Albanians that they have been and remain on the side of the murderers, whose identities are known but who are untouched by those in power. Democrats and all Albanians who loved and honored Azem Hajdari cannot tolerate this fact under any circumstances. The government must either capture the criminals and bring them to justice, or publicly declare that it itself committed the murder of Azem Hajdari.
