EDITORIAL By Shemsi PEPOSHI Ilir Meta went back on his word and, yesterday, his statements before the PS Congress, when he accepted the seat offered by Nano, provided concrete evidence of what the socialists really are. Majko’s former subordinate had declared before the Congress that if Majko lost the post of chairman, he would take his seat as an MP. Meta not only made a “sensational” statement in support of Majko, but also urged the former prime minister to do the same. Just one day before the Congress, Mr. Majko followed Meta’s example, declaring that he would resign from the post he held if he lost, and Ilir Meta in the face-off with Nano on page 3

Today, 409 days since the murder of the December Leader Strangely, this is a time of consolidating democracy and stability, yet it is promoting the involvement of Fatos Nano’s government and President Rexhep Meidani in exonerating his killer, those who killed him and abandoned all Albanians? The Albanian government, which should have been searching for him, could at the very least have protected the life of the December Leader and shown Albanians that they had been searching for the killers, whose first and last names are known but whom those in power cannot find. The case file on Azem Hajdari’s murder is recognized as one of the most notorious murder cases in Albania. The government must either capture the killers and bring them to justice, or resign and leave; otherwise. The Prime Minister should either have resigned and left office and remained in office, if Fatos Nano also lost.
