Meta is looking for enemies for Berisha
By Sami NEZA
Prime Minister Ilir Meta declared yesterday during a hearing-meeting in the EDU, where for the first time he sought to contrast the theses of his government with those of the Democrats and foreigners. Later, with a totalitarian attack on all his opponents, he blew apart his image as an anti-communist. In this latest statement at this forum he attacked the Democratic Party and all the country’s other political and social opponents. Berisha is his first and main political enemy. Yesterday too, by trapping the question of a Western journalist linked to yesterday’s tension in Albania, he exposed the lack of opposition

The government protects the killers of Azem Hajdari
Today, 507 days since Azem’s murder
Every day that passes since Azem’s murder brings and unfolds many messages of implication of the government of Fatos Nano and of his successor Ilir Meta and of President Rexhep Meidani in the murder of Azem Hajdari on 12 September 1998, against democracy and pluralism. The government of the old commissioners, which today is directly controlled by the Attorney General Arta Marku[?], continues to live on and tailor the narrative for the public opinion. This is the result of the investigation after the socialist scenario and the combinations intended to legitimize at least temporarily the murder of the leader of the student movement Azem Hajdari and the witnesses. The great political pressure from the government, the rewriting of dozens of pieces of evidence, which is increasingly coming to light, constitutes the destruction of doubts, in a plan that is being imposed. Azem Hajdari was murdered in a clear, compromising scenario filled with hatred. The current government of the old commissioners carried out the murder of the Democratic deputy with the same cynicism, and with the press bowed before all the institutions of the country. At the same time, all this is clear, while the demonstrators and the forever politically persecuted are trying to undo the permanent crime. This is also the reason why the government does not even allow the truth about the murder of the century to be brought to light

How will the elections be held?
Sokol OLLDASHI
Tomorrow the American public will, as usual, follow with interest the events of the mayoral elections in London, which after their conclusion will undoubtedly also be covered by the new television broadcaster. As for the elections for Head of State, the preparation of the electorate for the presidential elections in November is of interest. More at the center of television attention will be the clash between Al Gore on one side and George Bush on the other, or the struggle of the two to capture and shape the sympathy of the American middle class in every hall and stadium. Given this dependence on the confrontation between government and opposition under all the criteria of fair play, and consequently on carrying out these general elections toward a clear result, it will be necessary to adapt certain mechanisms that can replace the losers. For this reason, the preparation of the commissioners and the candidates is important so that they may be the ideals of the priority of both subjects. Today’s government of the former commissioners,
