The chairman of the Socialist Party, Fatos Nano, once again reaffirmed his stance against Albania’s strategic interests, reviving the “fever” of Crete and Lisbon. In an interview with “Kontakt” radio, Fatos Nano said that it did not matter to him at all where the Eighth Corridor runs. “I don’t want to know where it runs, through Durrës or Thessaloniki,” said the Socialist chairman. He was answering a question about the controversy that has erupted over attempts to shift the route of the Eighth Corridor in Greece’s favor. As is known, the construction of the road linking Durrës with Skopje, Sofia and Istanbul has been regarded not only by Albanians but also by the international community as one of Albania’s strategic interests.

Every day that passes since the murder of Azem Hajdari, the symbol of democracy and pluralism, proves the involvement of Fatos Nano’s government and his successor in the crime that shook the entire Albanian world. The governments of the former communists, who were free and had not paid the criminals who took the life of the December leader, show Albanians that they have been and remain on the side of the killers, whose names are known, but who are not touched by those in power. Democrats and all Albanians who loved and honored Azem Hajdari can in no way tolerate this fact. The government must either capture the criminals and bring them to justice, or publicly declare that it itself committed the murder of Azem Hajdari.
