Every day that passes since the murder of Azem Hajdari, the symbol of democracy and pluralism, proves the involvement of Fatos Nano’s government and that of his successor in the crime that shook the entire Albanian world. The governments of the former communists, which leave free and unpunished the criminals who took the life of the December Leader, show Albanians that they have been and remain on the side of the killers, who have names and identities but are not touched by those in power. Democrats and all Albanians who loved and honoured Azem Hajdari cannot tolerate this fact. The government must either apprehend the criminals and bring them to justice, or publicly declare that it itself committed the murder of Azem Hajdari.

The electoral commission of the Democratic Party, prompted by several questions of interpretation that have arisen in various circles regarding the higher-education criterion, clarifies: “Higher education is considered to mean only those persons who have completed higher education studies and graduated in a specific field or fields; and when it comes to a mayor, as point 4 of the instruction also clarifies, they must have at least 5 years’ seniority in public- or private-sector employment.
Any other interpretation is invalid.”
