The News

The Socialist parliamentary group, on the proposal of chairman Rama, has de-registered MP Islami for breaking last week’s political decision. Islami did not attend the meeting, asking for the presence of the media. There were debates within the group, while Rama asked that no information be leaked বাইরে. TIRANA JAKIN MARENA The parliamentary group of the Socialist Party decided by open vote to de-register MP Kastriot Islami from this group. The reason for this extreme measure was the breaking of the party’s political decision to vote against the candidate for head of the Supreme State Audit in Thursday’s parliamentary session last week by the PS MP, a decision that had been proposed a few days earlier at a meeting of the Socialist presidency by its chairman Edi Rama. At yesterday’s meeting, after strong debates, but also Islami’s refusal to be part of the meeting in the absence of the media, it was decided to remove Islami from the group. MPs Malaj, Doshi, Bello and Gashi voted against this decision, while MPs Majko and Ruka abstained. MPs Blushi, Harasani, Deda and Dade did not take part. For his part, Rama asked Socialist MPs not to speak to the media... continues on page 2

The man of 2011

Editorial BY ARBEN RROZHANI The man of 2011 In the section opened by the newspaper ‘Tema’ for the man of 2011, there has been an interesting vote until late last night. At the top are the four victims of the Albanian government during the 21 January demonstration: Aleks Nika, Hekuran Deda, Faik Myrtaj and Ziver Veizi, who lead with 36 percent of the votes, or 1,261. They are followed by Edi Rama with 15 percent, or 538 votes, and then by the deputy head of the High Council of Justice, Kreshnik Spahiu, Prime Minister Sali Berisha, former minister Dritan Prifti, MEP Tanja Fajon, the leader of ‘Vetëvendosje’ Albin Kurti, colleague Artan Hoxha, lecturer Flora Hanelli, and finally President Bamir Topi. ...remove those four from the top. They are the victims, Rama’s victims according to Berisha, and he too is a victim... So what have they done to be in the top 10 most voted? The four demonstrators killed on the evening of 21 January did nothing, except go to protest. They were 4 of the hundreds of thousands who were in the square in front of the government headquarters that day and were treacherously killed, even though they had their hands in their pockets and were posing no threat either to the building or to the government’s armchairs. But they were killed because the spirit of rebellion had to be killed, and that is what happened. They are leaving their 10 orphans at least a moral victory. Rama has not done anything, except for the next book, speaking ill of everyone, because as for the rest, the opposition was the same as in 2010, if not worse. Spahiu, yes, has done some crazy things, he has touched Albanians where it cannot be tolerated, the sick nationalist feeling, and in doing so he hits everyone, especially the government. Berisha does nothing but further cement power and told Albanians publicly... continues on page 3
