MEGI, THE VICTIM WITHOUT FAULT

KILLINGS IN TIRANA/ The testimonies and the photos. Yesterday Eleni Basho was buried in Gjirokastër MEGI, THE VICTIM WITHOUT FAULT Grandmother: She was walking with her fiancé, they killed her How the story of Megi Jakiçi happened: mafia hitmen mistook the target. Yesterday there was terror and robbery again. In Berat the jeweler is taken hostage. In Lezha the former prefect’s shop is robbed. Former police chief Pjerin Ndreu: The frightening scale of crime The news The neighbors of 35-year-old Eleni Basho did not initially think of a murder, but in fact while transporting the body to the hospital, they thought the woman was seriously fainted. Because of the thick clothes (the jacket) and the darkness, the neighbors could not distinguish the bloodstains, but they quickly took her to the hospital where they were informed of her death as a result of three bullets. TIRANA ELTON QYNO Eleni Basho, the mother of two children aged 11 and 13, lived in the Shkoza area in the capital together with her husband Ilirian, the latter a businessman in the trade of dental medicines. Throughout the day she had been at her job as a dental laboratory technician, and as she was on her way home she was shot dead. The perpetrator showed no mercy, not giving her the chance to embrace her two children for the last time, children she had not been able to see that day since she had seen them off to school. The apartment was locked and, according to neighbors, just like the other people who spent the whole day working. A response for those eyes!

BLOG/Periphery BY Alba Malltezi A response for those eyes! Perhaps this will be the first and last photo in which I see the eyes of Megi Jakiçi, the 25-year-old dentist who was killed by mistake while passing near another target of organized crime in Tirana. We are all so small and powerless before Fate that the attempt to analyze what happened to this young girl on the evening of February 2, 2012 is overwhelming. But there is an answer that the girl’s thin and intelligent eyes await and will await forever through this photo published today by shqiptarja.com; we, society, we the living, who were not there on the evening of February 2, 2012 in "Komuna e Parisit" street, must give it: Have we built a State that protects the vulnerable? Have we built a State that protects women, children, the elderly? Have we built a State where the "tough guys" think many times before settling their accounts in the middle of neighborhoods, in the heart of the capital? How many times have unlicensed cars with dark windows passed near us, and a little farther on the police, instead of stopping the arrogance of life, act "tough" with the easiest people? Megi found herself in the wrong place, at the wrong moment....her eyes are asking for another explanation... It is true. Megi found herself in the wrong place, at the wrong moment and this could have happened to anyone, but her eyes ask for another explanation, an explanation that goes beyond Fate. Today we have a State where the arrogant, thieves, the corrupt, the tricksters, the tough guys, the hired killers or killers for free roam freely in their home. The others, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, students, journalists without bodyguards and supercars, behave quietly[?]... Cases of mistaken killings have increased.
