“RUÇI IS A DRUG USER”
Gramoz’s son: This is the third bluff by the police
The police director Hysni Burgaj speaks about the son of the Socialist deputy
The testimony of the number one of the blue uniforms: “We have accurate information that the person found with the narcotic substance is a drug user.” The accused: “A disappointment for Sali Berisha’s militants”
News Police Director Hysni Burgaj, in a statement to the newspaper “Shqiptarja.com”, said yesterday that there is information indicating that Ledio Ruçi, son of MP Gramoz Ruçi, is a drug user. According to him, the State Police continues to insist that the 1.50 grams of narcotic substance seized from Ledio Ruçi’s car belonged to him, dismissing suspicions of a possible setup by the officers themselves. Meanwhile, Ledio Ruçi called this the third bluff against him.

Bread, salt and passport
Editorial
BY GENC KOJDELI Bread, salt and passport Another discouraging initiative coming from the Albanian government shows the swamp in which the economy is trapped and how much the majority needs money, regardless of the means used to get it. Perhaps inspired by the famous hospitality of the Albanian people, the proposal risks turning Albania into an inn without gates. The Prime Minister’s proposal to grant Albanian citizenship to “investors” who would bring 100 thousand euros into the country is alarming on several levels and makes one seriously reflect on the state of the country.
First, thinking that citizenship is a decisive factor in an investor’s readiness and security to bring his business to Albania is ridiculous. Investors, whether corporate or individual, base their willingness to invest in a country on much more tangible and influential factors, such as the tax system, the functionality of the judiciary, the existence of the rule of law, the level of crime, the price of land, the price of raw materials, the cost and qualifications of the workforce, the average educational level of the population, and so on.
Second, this proposal raises obvious concerns regarding security; in Albania, the region, or even the entire EU. There is a strong likelihood that instead of serious investors, our country will become a “haven” for all kinds of criminals, terrorists, and shady businessmen, who would use Albanian citizenship as a transit tool to escape prosecution in the countries of... ▶ Continues on page 5
