Heroes of an endless war
Apologizing to those who may consider me cynical, I must say that the suicide attack against two Albanian commandos in Afghanistan was as painful as it was expected; with at least eight years of history of sending troops into hot spots such as Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, unfortunately this loss was statistically (though not logically) inevitable. Beyond the moving rhetoric we will hear in the coming days and the propaganda that will justify the loss of lives with the obligations Albania has as a NATO member, it must be said that the Afghanistan mission has been a shameful failure for the main actors who undertook it, but also for background extras such as Albania.
In the middle of this geopolitical and military chaos, the Albanian troops and their presence in Afghanistan are entirely incomprehensible
By the very nature of the Afghan resistance led by the Taliban, or of the situation in which the initiators of the war find themselves politically and economically, hopes that Afghanistan will find peace in the near future are virtually nil, and the unrest in neighboring Pakistan or in the region shaken by the Pakistan–India tension does not promise any quick solution to the situation.
