Comment BY Edi Rama A 28 November without Berisha A few days ago, an absurd competition for a monument to Ismail Qemali was canceled. The media reported a ridiculous performance by the artists. I believe because there are reasons why today there should not be only Albania, with however modest a number of artists capable of a serious competition for a realistic statue. But that is another topic. The issue here is why such a thing is being sought. I am convinced that if we asked the prime minister, who brings these competitions out of his mouth throughout his speeches without any logical basis at the government table, the answer would be even more ridiculous than the just-failed competition. Up to now he has spoken about a new parliament, a new stadium, a monument to independence in Tirana, a monument to Ismail Qemali, about an Eagle that should be eaten for der dertyra to be made by the mayor of Tirana and, as always, also about a monument to the crimes of communism, which he has been announcing for seven years. All for the 100th anniversary of independence. All announced before beginning.
