In the photo: Rezart Hana (right) Prosecutor Xhevat Hana ■■■ TIRANË POLI HOXHA The prosecutor Hana’s son, Rezart, a third-year law student at the state university, who has decided to follow in his father’s professional footsteps, in an exclusive interview for “Shqiptarja.com” just 3 hours before his father’s death, recounts the sudden illness and the family’s first suspicions that his father may have been injected with the serious illness by external factors because of the case he was handling, the one against former SHIK officials accused of kidnapping and disappearing the Albanian-Macedonian businessman Remzi Hoxha. This strong suspicion was first presented to Albanian doctors, but they were unable to give an answer. Meanwhile, after their first examinations and interviews with prosecutor Hana, the Italian doctors urgently informed the Italian Anti-Mafia, which began monitoring the analyses and investigating the suspicions. Editorial BY ARBEN RROZHANI Hana, the passing of the good man One of the best-known representatives of the Albanian prosecution service gave up the ghost yesterday in a clinic in Bergamo, Italy, after a month of illness. As of last night, Xhevat Hana is one less “enemy” on their list, those who did not want him underfoot and who, while he was alive, had driven him to the edge of moral, professional and spiritual trauma. But for many he is a friend with a capital F, showing that the good is targeted precisely because it can never be bad. The case of former prosecutor Xhevat Hana is a clear illustration of what kind of civil servant the current state wants. He was the right prosecutor if those in power were truly the “government of clean hands” as it had promised in 2005, when it came to lead the government of Albanians. Because he dealt with those major and burning files, the investigation and revelation of which would have honored and dignified any government, if it had been honest. But no. Before being transferred from the General Prosecutor’s Office at the end of 2007, the late Hana was the representative of the Albanian prosecution in the corrupt road file Durres-Kukës, concerning a corruption scheme believed to amount to at least 220 million euros.
