Blog/ One Thousand Whys? BY SUELA GERA Where can I find peace?! One of these days, a cousin of mine came from Italy to stay for a while with my family in Tiranë. With the 6-month-old little girl in her arms, suitcases in hand and tired from a journey of over 24 hours (my cousin lives in northern Italy and travels by train and ferry with her boyfriend), she appeared at the house gate like a madwoman. 08:00. A long journey, and a bit of the high temperatures, had left the little one unable to rest. I freed up a room for them and, after giving her a bath, put her to sleep. 09:00. Ema (the little girl) wakes up upset. The noise of a cement mixer had disturbed her sleep. Some workers were building the second floor of a house not far from mine. 10:00. Some neighborhood children (actually only one is from the neighborhood, but where the other ten come from to gather there, I still haven’t figured out) were playing football in the alley and shouting at the top of their lungs: No, you’re cheating, you kicked the ball wrong, but there was no goal... My mother-in-law came out to politely tell them: Please do not shout because I have my little granddaughter asleep. And the reply was: Is this your street? Did your father make it for you?!
