Comment BY AFRIM KRASNIQI Parliament’s debts For the first time since 1997, parliament has been called into an extraordinary session. There will be no state of siege, but the “integration laws” will be voted on. We are talking about the rules of procedure of parliament (which will be dissolved), the law on the public administration (which is currently filling the squares of rallies with an order) and the law on the Supreme Court (which has been fortified with political appointees). We had been told that our integrative destiny, millions of euros in investments, the future of our children, depended on these three laws, that the condition for them was linked to the rule of law, legality in circulation [?], etc. Now that the hours are being counted down to the vote, we all know that none... Comment BY FITIM HOXHATI As if they were Newton’s three laws This business of the three laws is like another one from nearly 50 years ago. At a meeting “for revolutionary spirit,” someone gets up and proposes that all savings deposits be forgiven. When Mehmet Shehu from the presidium said that the proposal was very original and beneficial for society and the state, everyone was stunned, but they pulled themselves together when he added, “we are really very short of money, but first this gentleman should tell us how much he has in his own account.” It turned out he had no money at all. The beauty of today is that all the chatter, ours and the “Europeans’,” begins and ends with whether they should be approved or not. The bad thing is that no one even asks what these laws are.
