The approvals find ways to increase production

In the Tirana coal basin The searching analysis of workers in the new gallery of Tirana is expanding. In the framework of efforts to secure more fuel for the economy, the miners' collectives are looking for new ways of organization and technology. Reserves have been assessed, the use of machinery has been reviewed, and measures have been taken to strengthen the work fronts. The experience of seasoned workers is being used better and young people are being helped to integrate into the rhythm of the mine. In the latest meetings the emphasis was placed on meeting quotas, technical safety, and attention to cost. Higher production is required, but without concessions in quality and safety. The miners emphasize that with mobilization and discipline better results can be achieved. (Continues on page 3)

Summer Day in the area of Elbasan

From the notebook block Spring is announced by the swallow flakes; they carry the human spirit into the endless blue of the sky, the awakening of nature and the enlivening of people's hearts, of spring work. The weather and the last days of March began their own path with a good pace and with good wishes, near Skopje and in Elbasan, where in a few hours on the eve of Summer Day, which is traditionally celebrated here on March 14 with a special joy. More here, less there, in the first days of March the eyelids opened, the rays of the sun caressed us with love and warmth, and so unexpectedly came the days we had wanted and awaited. Well, we enjoyed them and we are enjoying them. It truly was a beautiful day. At first glance, this ancient city reminded you that spring has indeed knocked and entered. How much so, with all the tidy houses, yards with flowers and streets with greenery. At first sight, the cleanliness of the environment stands out, especially in the city center. Blessings are whispered one by one and in calm voices for Summer Day. Shopkeepers, workers of enterprises, pupils and students, all with a special rhythm of preparation. The market, the streets and the premises were filled with movement. In small and large squares, in families and collectives, the celebration took on a visible dimension. There was joy, but also a feeling of deep calm. Tradition remained alive. On the eve of this holiday people talked about tiredness, about life, about hopes and about spring. Summer Day is one of the most beloved holidays for the people of Elbasan.[?] It comes with the aroma of ballakume, with children's voices, with the welcoming of guests and with the desire to begin something new. In the streets and neighborhoods you meet people who wish you well even if they do not know you at all. That is its beauty. In the city surroundings, everywhere one felt the liveliness of a special day. Spring had arrived. (Continues on page 3)

Standards have been set, working hours have been reviewed, and guidelines for saving have been given. Responsibility belongs to everyone: institutions, enterprises, families. On the shores of Vlora, drilling teams are facing many technical difficulties, but also results that encourage optimism. The work of organizing the brigades, enforcing technological discipline, and making better use of time has brought visible changes. Specialists emphasize that the agreement has influenced the growth of responsibility and interest in results. There is greater productivity in work, greater precision in carrying out processes, and more care for equipment. The young drillers are also doing well, learning from the experience of the older ones. In some wells workdays have been saved and costs reduced. Nevertheless, improvements are still needed in supplies, transport, and technical coordination.

To raise educational work to a higher level

— The meeting of the General Council of the BSPSH was held — Yesterday morning in one of the halls of the Palace of Congresses in Tirana, the General Council of the Trade Unions of Albania met. The meeting examined educational work in the trade-union organizations and their role in fulfilling economic and social tasks. The need to strengthen socialist conviction, education in the norms of work discipline, and more active participation of the masses in solving production problems was emphasized. The speakers brought examples from various enterprises and departments, where ideological-political work has influenced the growth of productivity, the improvement of the collective climate, and the solution of some concrete difficulties. The need was also discussed to raise the quality of cultural and sports activities, to activate youth and women, as well as to coordinate with other social organizations. The delegation of the General Council of the BSSh, headed by comrade Fadil Kasmi, member of the General Council of the BSSh, at the invitation of the Greek BSSH, visited Athens. During the talks, views were exchanged on trade-union activity, the defense of workers' interests and the possibilities of expanding contacts.
